Happy Hank! 🐢β™₯️

"In June of 2018, my Uncle and some of his work team went to the Best Friends Animal Society in Kenab, Utah to do team building and help the people and the animals at the sanctuary. That is where Uncle Danny (Board Member of The Half Percent Project) met Hank.

A little about Hank before meeting my Uncle.Hank was found wandering on an Native American reservation and brought to a shelter when he was a year old. This shelter was a kill shelter and Best Friends brought him to the sanctuary. Hank had a good life in Utah, but his high reactivity to prey made it hard for him to get adopted.

Enter Uncle Danny. He posted a picture on Facebook of this handsome dog. He couldn't adopt him because he had other dogs. We saw his picture and the wheels were set in motion. My husband, Uncle Danny and our oldest son flew to Kenab, Utah from upstate New York to meet Hank. It was love at first sight. After 3 years at Best Friends, Hank was going to become a part of our family!

2 months later Hank flew across the country and on August 3 our family of 5 became a family of 6. Hank is sweet, loving and the best decision we ever made. We believe that even though he doesn't like other animals very much he deserves a family and we work hard to make sure our 90 pound boy has the best life. He celebrated his seventh birthday this past summer. We love our Hank."

Recently, our Founder Patti Lenkov monitored the transport of Patches, a 5-month-old Australian Shepherd / Catahoula mix who is visually impaired and partially deaf.

No matter where you live, organizations are always looking for drivers and people to oversee or monitor transports. It allows these precious animals to find homes that might not otherwise be available. If you would like to learn how you can help in your area, DM us today.

"Pet transport is the transfer of adoptable pets from over-populated areas to regions of the U.S. where demand for adoptable pets is high. The ultimate goal of pet transport operations is to address the imbalance in the supply and demand of pets nationwide.

Generally speaking, transport pets originate in the southern United States and travel north to receiving shelters, rescues and fosters.

In most cases, pet transport is conducted on a shelter-to-shelter basis. In these instances, by the time the pet reaches the adoption floor, potential adopters aren’t aware that the pet has traveled hundreds, sometimes thousands, of miles." (Source: Petfinder.com)
