Cornwall GirlUp This is the Cornwall chapter of the GirlUp club. GirlUp is an innovative campaign of the United Nations Foundation.

They give American girls the opportunity to become global leaders and raise awareness and funds for underprivileged girls worldwide. This is the Cornwall chapter of the GirlUp club, which is a UN based program that encourages girls around the world to help girls in developing countries tackle problems like ending child marriage and getting an education. We meet once a month at the Cornwall Public

Library (http://www.cornwallpubliclibrary.org/index.htm) to organize fundraising and education events around the community. Here you will find our fundraising events, our upcoming meetings, and other important information on how we as a group hope to spread the message of GirlUp throughout Cornwall, New York. It was an extremely successful summer for the Cornwall chapter of GirlUp. We raised about $300 with our benefit concert, and we taught girls at the COH camp about the lives of girls in third-world countries. As the summer comes to a close, we are looking forward to all the new projects we will begin throughout the school year!

Had a great meeting today, and continued to plan our own screening of the new movie Girl Rising, directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, at the Downing Film Center in Newburgh NY. We will be having a bake sale once again this Saturday (10/27) from 9-11:30 at Laurel Crest Field. Come purchase some baked goods and hot beverages! All proceeds go to help underprivileged girls.
