Take a Code Break with Bill Gates :

One billion students are at home, and many schools are struggling to support them. To help parents during this difficult time, we’ve launched Code Break: a global, live-interactive classroom, where the Code.org team and I will teach students of all ages, with and without computers. Code Break offers a weekly dose of education, community, and computer science, and has brought together students from as far as Africa, China, India, and South America.

As our next special guest, we’ll welcome the world’s greatest philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, for a unique experience that connects computer science to current events. You do NOT want to miss this one!
Take a Code Break with Bill Gates

Code Break is about more than education and computer science. It’s about offering inspiration and community at a time when families are alone. To join our live classroom and receive the weekly challenges for students of all ages, visit Code.org/Break.

You can also watch past episodes, with different activities and guests every week:

We’re looking forward to future appearances from “Father of the Internet”, Vint Cerf, actor, producer, and writer, Keegan-Michael Key, and other world-renowned guests! Join us to learn more. And to help other families, please spread the word — share this email, or share on Twitter, or on Facebook.

Computer science engages students, helps them outperform in school, college, and beyond
In today’s environment, keeping students learning is harder than ever. Computer science engages students like few other subjects in education, because of its interactivity and creativity. Students rank CS their favorite subject after art, music, and dance.

And recent studies show: children who study computer science perform better in other subjects, excel at problem-solving, and are 17% more likely to enroll in college.

If you’re a teacher or parent, please encourage students to learn computer science and coding while school is closed. Check out the Code.org resources for students at home. And take a weekly Code Break every Wednesday!

Thank you for the opportunity to teach your children,

Hadi Partovi,
Founder, Code.org

Our story

The Cornwall Techno-Dragons is a team organized to participate in the FIRST LEGO League Jr. program. The not-for-profit FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) designed this program to introduce children to STEM concepts through a toy everyone knows and loves: LEGO toys! Parent coaches work with a FIRST LEGO League partner to guide a group of kids through a design challenge. After spending months designing and building a model that meets the challenge, teams present their projects at an annual Expo. In FIRST LEGO League Jr., kids learn how to apply math and science to a practical problem, how to use their imagination to come up with solutions, and how to collaborate and present their work before a group of peers. Please consider supporting the Cornwall Techno-Dragons so our kids can take part in this enriching program!
