📣 Coach Reintroduction!
We’re excited to have Head Coach Erin back for another season leading Falcon Youth Cheerleading, continuing to elevate the program with her leadership and drive. 💙🩶
🌟 Meet Head Coach Erin🌟
My name is Erin, and I’m the Head Coach of Falcon Youth Cheer. I was raised in Fredericksburg and graduated from Northern Lebanon High School. I now live in South Lebanon with my family.
My journey with cheerleading began when I was just 7 years old, starting as a mascot with Northern Lebanon Youth Cheerleading. I continued cheering all the way through junior high and high school, earning a spot on the varsity team as a freshman and proudly serving as team captain my senior year. After high school, I joined an open all-star team called Cheer Excel and competed for about a year and a half until a car accident unexpectedly ended my time as a cheerleader on the mat. While that chapter of my life closed, it opened the door to something just as meaningful - they say when you can’t do, you coach and that’s exactly what I did!
Even before that turning point, I had already dipped my toe into coaching. While still a varsity cheerleader, I served as a high school coaching assistant, helping to create and teach competition routines. After my accident, I was asked to help coach one of the youth teams, and I instantly knew I had found my calling. I followed that team up to junior high and eventually coached at the varsity level. Life took me in different directions at times, and I stepped away from coaching here and there—but somehow, I always found my way back.
After leaving my coaching position at Northern Lebanon, I was approached a few years later to coach a local all-star team. I missed coaching so much, I couldn’t say no. During that time, my husband Greg and I even created our own level 4 open team so we could compete ourselves, and we started a younger team so Milo, our son, could begin cheering at just 4 years old. It was such a fun and special time for our family. Then, after I had our daughter Juliet, life shifted once again. That’s when the opportunity to coach at Falcon Youth Cheer came along.
I officially started coaching at FYC in 2021 when Milo, then 7, joined the program. They were looking for a D Team coach and, thanks to a referral from another FYC coach, I jumped in. This will now be my fifth year coaching for FYC, and it’s been an incredible ride. I’ve coached every level in the program, from the youngest Mascots to our B Team, as well as all of our competition teams—Flash, Force, Fire, Fusion, and Fever. I also serve as the assistant coach for the Cedar Crest Varsity Competition Team.
Throughout my cheer career, I was primarily a flyer, although I loved the challenge of basing when I had the chance. I was usually too short to be a backspot, but I was always happy to fill in wherever needed. Outside of cheer, I played softball for a few years, but my heart has always been in cheerleading.
My favorite part of coaching is seeing athletes grow—both in skill and in confidence. I love being able to look out onto the mat or the field and think, “I helped them get here.” It’s a pride I share with each athlete and every coach I work alongside. I try to motivate my teams by reminding them just how important their role is. Whether cheering on the sidelines or performing in a competition, they represent more than themselves—they represent the whole Falcon Cheer Family! I strive to fill them with love and encouragement so they can be the best version of themselves both in and out of uniform.
One of my favorite coaching quotes is, “You earn your trophies at practice and you pick them up at the competition.” That’s the energy I bring to every practice and every season. This year, my goals are clear. For our sideline teams, we aim to be the best in the league and impress the crowd with our halftime performances. For our competition teams, our goal is to keep pushing, keep growing, never settling and performing our absolute best. We have big dreams for our competition team, short term and long term, and this season is one more step toward making those dreams a reality.
With so many years in cheer, I have too many favorite memories to choose from—honestly, I could write a whole book. Cheerleading has given me moments filled with love, laughter, tears, hard work, and deep pride. These memories aren’t just mine; they’re shared with my family and the athletes who’ve become a part of my journey. These memories will truly last a lifetime.
Outside of coaching, I still spend a lot of time making up cheer routines…haha… but when I’m not doing that, I love reading and spending time with my husband and kids. We especially enjoy camping, and when my parents come along, I even get a little quiet time to sneak in a good book. Coaching cheer may be a huge part of my life, but it’s also what’s made so many of the best parts of my life possible.
