The 3 Foragers are back at Flanders this Saturday, September 2 at 10AM for Wild Edible Plants & Fungi of Fall! Learn how to identify, sustainably harvest, and prepare the wild foods of autumn, from acorns through minty wintergreen leaves, including golden honey mushrooms and maitake, the “dancing mushroom.” Join us for an engaging talk with The 3 Foragers to learn about edible plants and fungi, how to identify them, and recipe ideas! Join us for a Bird and Nature Walk with Larry Fischer Wednesday, September 6th
8:30am- 10:30am at the Orzech Preserve, 2 Botsford Hill Road, Roxbury.
Larry Fischer is a past president of the Western Connecticut Bird Club. A walk with Larry includes plant identification, bird song and interesting anecdotes. All are welcome on the walk and are encouraged to bring binoculars, water and insect repellent, as well as wear appropriate footwear.

September is Housatonic Heritage Month, when we celebrate the beauty of the Upper Housatonic Valley Natural Heritage Area. So join us on a series of guided hikes, beginning THIS SUNDAY, September 3, from 10am to noon at the Goodbody Preserve. We'll hike the gorgeous Indian Mountain trails. Followed by....
-Saturday, September 9th, 10am to noon at the Mary Moore Preserve, where we'll hike the Ledge Loop trail and visit the famous Chinkapin Oak.
-Sunday, September 24th, 10am to noon at the Hamlin Preserve, when we'll explore Red Mountain.
-Saturday, September 30th, 10am to noon at the Von Ahn Preserve, where we'll introduce hikers to our newest trails.

MLT Sunflower Days

WHEN:
Saturday and Sunday, 9/2 and 9/3, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

WHERE:
The MLT Bronson Meadow Field,
along 188, just east of Pies & Pub in Middlebury
(parking on the grass along 188 or the Pies & Pub lot)

WHAT:
The sunflowers are now in full bloom. You can buy some ready-picked or pick your own (6 for $15 or dozen for $20, Cash or check only.)

Take pictures or just wander around and enjoy their majesty.
Proceeds benefit the MLT trail mapping and trail maps.

All who stop by will get a voucher good for 10% off their order that day at Pies and Pub.

There are still a few opportunities for interested members to volunteer.
