To All Friends Who Love History and Perry County, Ohio:
Come join us as we celebrate the rich history of Corning, Ohio this Saturday at the Corning Monroe Civic Center at 2:00 p.m.
Our friend, nephew, cousin, and Champion of Local History, John Winnenberg, will lead us through the town's development from the discovery of coal, oil and gas, the churches, the people and much more.Joining John will be Ivan Tribe, Professor Emeritus from Rio Grande College who will expand on the history of the Railroads and the impact they made on the state and nation.This presentation is the culmination of a series of year-long events sponsored by the Perry County Historical Society to help celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the formation of Perry County.
Thanks to the dedication and efforts of Corning history buffs and the Corning High School Alumni, Corning now has a small History Museum located in the Civic Center. Be sure to stop by either before or after the presentation to see photos, historical panels and many other artifacts from businesses and citizens of days gone by. The Museum will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Corning History Project has become the Corning Monroe Museum. Thanks to the generosity of spirit and time of a few CHS graduates, our "room" has become a Museum!
Now located in the Corning Monroe Civic Center, (the old High School) the Museum is open Wednesday's from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. during the summer months.
Come visit, and bring your family for an amazing opportunity to discover how and when our area contributed to the Industrial Revolution while becoming a microcosm of people from varied ethnic backgrounds.

Would you like to share an old photograph with the History Project? CHS Alumni are currently working to preserve the history of Corning and CHS via photographs and narrative. This information will be producted on canvas panels approximately 2.5 x 4 ft in size. and displayed at the Civic Center and other local and county events. Please let us know if you have any stories you would like to relate about the "good old days," how we might preserve them for future generations, and if you or your family would like to contribute to the project..
