The Corning Lions proudly participated in "The Hand Project". We assembled prosthetic mechanical hands to be donated to disadvantaged people in third world countries who have either lost a hand from injury or war or have a medical condition resulting in not having a hand. The hands are sent to nations like Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Congo, etc. where traffic accidents, war and physical abuse result in the loss of one or both hands. These mechanical hands literally change the life of the recipients. It takes about 2 hours to complete the assembly. The Corning Lions assembled 8 hands for the project.

The Corning Lions held its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on 4/4/26. This event has been ongoing since 1980! Thanks to all the sponsors who assisted us, Walmart, Tops, Wegman's, Sam's Club, DJ Bull Dog Bob Smith, The Corning Gaffer District, and the Corning Police and Fire Departments. We especially thank the over 300 kids we were able to serve!

Wonderful to see our "OLD" friends in this image.

Archivists have unearthed a long-lost painting depicting one of the lesser-known chapters of Lions history — the very first time the LionsofNewYorkState and the Lions Clubs of Bermuda crossed the Potomac River together, over 250 years ago, en route to their annual NYS & Bermuda Multiple District Convention in Syracuse.
Historians note the striking resemblance between the figures in this vessel and certain Lions who appear at conventions every single year. Coincidence? We think not.

History, it seems, is repeating itself — because this year's convention is happening April 17–19 in Syracuse, and if you're checking in on Thursday, there's a welcome party and social to kick things off right.

🦁 So tell us… does anyone in this painting look familiar?

Hi Everyone, As you may have noticed I have been quiet on FB lately. Gail and I have been overwhelmed with many things. However, the biggest thing was our trip to India for the Lions Global Service Week where we did vision screenings and eye exams. Here is a link to a 10 minute YouTube video showing our trip.

Finger Lakes District Lions Unite to Support Children with Cancer
Ithaca, NY — Lions from more than 20 clubs across the Finger Lakes District came together on Saturday, January 24, to assemble over 100 care kits for children undergoing cancer treatment throughout the region. The Corning Lions Club participated in this effort.
The project took place following a District Cabinet Meeting held at Lifelong in Ithaca and involved Lions from District 20E2, an area spanning east of Rochester to west of Syracuse, from Lake Ontario south to the Pennsylvania border. Known collectively as the Finger Lakes District, Lions worked side by side to support one of Lions International’s Global Causes: Childhood Cancer.
Each care kit was thoughtfully packed with items designed to bring comfort, distraction, and practical support to children and families facing pediatric cancer. The kits included travel games and books for various ages, coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, small stuffed animals, soft throw blankets, warm non-skid socks, lotion, tissues, lip balm, hand sanitizer, bottled water, lollipops, and specially designed port pillows to protect chemotherapy port sites during car rides.
Since being assembled, Lions have been delivering the care kits to healthcare providers across the district who serve children with cancer. Additional kits are being provided to a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting families navigating pediatric cancer.
District Governor Tamre Waite praised the collaboration and commitment shown by Lions throughout the district.
“The childhood cancer project was highly successful with the outpouring of support from many clubs and individual Lions,” said Waite. “It was an amazing sight to behold seeing all the packed bags containing items contributed. Today, we truly lived out our motto of We Serve! From the bottom of my heart, I thank you!”
Lions International is the largest service club organization in the world, dedicated to meeting humanitarian needs and improving lives through service.

It Melvin Jones Birthday January 13. Please consider a donation to LCIF in his honor.

He started as a Chicago insurance salesman with a big idea: successful people should use their talents to improve their communities. That idea became Lions Clubs International. Melvin Jones didn’t just start a club, he sparked a global force for good.

To celebrate, please make a donation to LCIF in honor of Melvin! https://bit.ly/48yPeJn
