πŸ₯“πŸ¦ƒ Meet Rodgers Ranch Director Curt Eller πŸŒ³β˜•
πŸŽ‰πŸˆVisit their store on Marguerite for Homecoming specials πŸˆπŸŽ‰

The Corning Rotary Club had the pleasure of hosting Curt Eller, Corning's new Rodgers Ranch Farm Manager. Curt, a distinguished Corning High alum and a pillar in the ag community, spoke about the future of the ranch and its own store, the Farmstore at Rodgers Ranch!

Did you know the farm is raising turkeys for Thanksgiving? And they've got their own blend of roasted coffee, Rodgers Roast and Cardinal Roost. They also have some fabulous Homecoming specials. A Homecoming Meat Box for $90, for the week of homecoming. The box includes 5 lbs of ground beef, New York steaks, beef short ribs, and more. Beef and pork sold at the store were raised on the Corning High School farm. Supplies are limited.

They're also open on Saturday morning, so alumni can come visit and have a cup of coffee after Friday night's game. Welcome back to Corning High, Curt. Corning Rotarians are excited to see the Rodgers Ranch shine under your leadership.

The Corning Rotary Club is proud to support our Corning High Drill Team All Americans! These hardworking seniors earned an opportunity to travel to Hawaii in December to participate in the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade.

Because these girls were chosen as All Americans, they are raising money to travel and experience the USS Missouri, Arizona Memorial, and visit the historic Pearl Harbor area, as well as the Polynesian Cultural Center, and other opportunities.

These six seniors - Iylee Armstrong, Anika Escobar, Sienna Munoz, Miley Garcia, Alexa Galvan, and Akash Orduna - are raising $2,500 for each girl to attend. If you'd like to donate, please send us a message and we will make arrangements. Also, feel free to email Iylee at: [email protected]

These girls came to our club on a Wednesday, led us in our flag salute, spoke to our club, and are fabulous ambassadors of Corning High School and our entire community of Corning. It goes without saying, the Corning Rotary Club is proud of our outstanding students and wholeheartedly support hard work and determination.

πŸ”†πŸ”…Member Spotlight: Vanessa Haro πŸ”†πŸ”…

We are so fortunate to have Edward Jones Investments' Vanessa Haro as a dedicated member of our Corning Rotary Club. Last week, she shared fun stories about her life.

Did you know her parents are her greatest inspiration? She was also her school's top candy bar sales champion, and developed a keen interest in finance when she was just a teenager. She brought those finance skills to Corning, where she actually knocked on doors to get her business going. Now, she has developed long-time clients in Corning and is involved in this community, serving several times as the Corning Rotary president.

When she's not helping the Corning community with retirement planning and investing, she enjoys spending time with her two children. They love to travel, hike, paddleboard, and golf. She's traveled to faraway places like New Zealand and Paris and has a natural zest for life.

Thanks, Vanessa, for sharing your story with all of us. If anyone is interested in financial services, Vanessa Haro can be found at Edward Jones on Solano Street. She has a lifetime of knowledge and passion about helping people save for their future.

This week, Corning Rotary got to hear about a true community champion, Helen Pitkin. August is member spotlight month and it was a treat to listen to Helen tell us about her early days in Loyalton, her lifelong role as a leader in high school, college, and as a councilmember and now longtime school board member (30-plus years) for the Corning Union Elementary School District.

Pictured is an olive festival t-shirt designed by Helen when she was manager of the Corning Chamber, and a painting she created of Rotary President Shanna Long's (left) mother's horses many years ago. Helen is an asset to our community and she lives the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, every day. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us. You may also recognize Helen as the sourdough baker, where her goods are often featured at Sweet Swirls.

Next week, we're excited to hear about past president and Edward Jones' Corning manager, Vanessa Haro. We can't wait to hear her story.

Community Invitation: We invite the community to enjoy a social hour with the Corning Rotary Club at Corning's fun and friendly establishment, The Vault, on Wednesday, Aug. 26th. This year, we'll have social hour the last Wednesday of the month, from 5 to 6 p.m. Come join us and see what Rotary is all about.

Have a great weekend!

It was an honor to have Corning Police Chief, Ed Curiel, speak at Wednesday's Rotary meeting. Even more inspirational was hearing Ed talk about his role model, retired Corning Police Chief and Rotarian Tony Cardenas. Chief Curiel remembers looking up to Tony when he was a young boy, visiting relatives in Corning. It was a wonderful reminder that we are all built to inspire and motivate each other, especially in our careers, our families, and our communities. Thanks for taking time out of your day to chat with the Corning Rotary Club about the Corning Police Department and the wonderful people you lead to serve our community every day.
