Friends of St. Bernards Church The FRIENDS OF ST. Bernard Church and parish in light of its closure by the Diocese of Columbus.

BERNARD CHURCH, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was recently founded by a small core group of people dedicated to the preservation of St. The Mission of FSBC is primarily to preserve the church by fundraising charitable contributions for maintenance and repair. There are no plans for the church to be demolished and we do not intend to buy it. We hope to ensure its continued use by the parish

community for Catholic rites and services such as (but not limited to) funerals, weddings, and baptisms. This mission will support and enhance the Catholic community in the event the parish is reactivated. FSBC will also develop public educational and interpretive products regarding the history of St. Bernard parish to illustrate the significance of the Catholic Church in Perry County Ohio and the stabilizing effect that such faith congregations have on the community.

Hello Friends ! It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since we put the new roof on St. Bernard Church. I am glad to report that the roof, plus the brick/mortar repair and new gutter system installation has successfully protected the church from further damage thanks to your generosity. As you know, we are not finished. We are now focusing on the repair of the plaster on the inside and restoration of the wood around the windows on the outside. Plaster repair has begun but we don’t have the funding to complete it, or the windows. We are fortunate to have hired Don Smith (Quality Painting) who understands our mission and is working with us to do the work as funding permits. God is good ! It will cost around $30,000 to finish all of this work. We are hereby asking for your donations once again to continue the preservation of St. Bernard’s in anticipation of its future use. Donations can be mailed to Friends of St. Bernard Church, P.O. Box 179, Corning OH 43730. THANK YOU again for all you have done to help us fulfill our preservation goals ! Let us go forth with renewed faith. God Bless You !

A BIG thank you to Jobie Siemer for doing the push mowing and w**d wacking for the church. We are looking forward to the return of our amazing mowing duo- Cathy and Darrell Horn-. Also thanks to Josh and Nick Altier for lending a hand when needed and to Ann Cramer for the donation of another push mower. More news to follow!
