This kid works very hard every day, and her dedication truly pays off. Ellie Ballard won the 1500 meter and placed second in the 400 free at the 2026 Webster Race for a Cause on May 15. Both races marked Ellie’s personal best times and set new STAQ records. She also achieved her best times in the 50 and 100 meter free, improving her position by two places from the preliminaries to the finals. Ellie’s remarkable story continues to unfold, showcasing her talent and perseverance.

Today marked the first lesson of the new Stroke School and Intro to Swim session. It was wonderful to see many returning students and observe how much stronger and more confident they are in the water now. We are excited to extend a warm welcome to STAQ's new Coach Kaan, who will be helping us lead the Stroke School and Intro to Swim programs. With Coach Kaan's expertise and enthusiasm, we look forward to making great progress and providing an even better learning experience for all our swimmers.

STAQ Master swimmers truly excelled in their inaugural swim meet today! Our dedicated coaches Chris, John, Ryan, Yushi and our new team member Dori demonstrated that swimming is a phenomenal sport to embrace as you step into adulthood. It was truly an inspirational day, with a few national cut times achieved today!

The spring session of the stroke school and intro to swim continues to amaze! Our youngest swimmers are building confidence by learning to put their faces in the water, float on their backs, and swim with a kickboard. Chasing rubber ducks in the pool adds a great deal of fun to their lessons! Meanwhile, the older group is mastering proper freestyle and backstroke techniques and learning how to dive into the pool. Our instructors are patient and engaging, truly the best you can find. It’s inspiring to see such progress and enthusiasm from all the swimmers.

This year, STAQ members have earned well-deserved honors across several categories, showcasing their dedication and skill.

Coach Furstoss was named Coach of the Year after expertly guiding the Hawks to a Section IV championship title, highlighting his exceptional leadership and commitment.

Adding to the excitement, the 200-yard freestyle relay team—featuring Joey Crisco, John McKane, Keith Huff, and JP Sierzant—was recognized as Relay Team of the Year, celebrating their outstanding performance and coordination in the pool.

Joey Crisco, JP Sierzant and John McKane are recognized as the members of the first swim team, and Shawn DePedro and Keith Huff scored the membership on the second swim team which is the high honor awarded to the strongest regional swim talent.

These achievements reflect the hard work and talent of both STAQ athletes and coaches, inspiring pride throughout the STAQ community. Congratulations to all for these impressive accomplishments!
