🇺🇸 Memorial Day Quick Story Series: Honoring Our Heroes
Every day leading up to Memorial Day, we are sharing the stories of those who served our country—so their legacy is never forgotten.
Today, we remember Carter Hall of Delphia and Leatherwood, Kentucky.
Carter Hall proudly served his country in the United States Military as a missile specialist, dedicating himself to protecting the nation during his years of service. He was also a proud member of the historic Oozle Finch Squadron and remained deeply committed to honoring fellow veterans throughout his life.
After returning home to Perry County, Carter devoted himself to public service and became a pillar of the Leatherwood community. For 40 years, he faithfully served as Fire Chief of the Leatherwood Volunteer Fire Department. At the time of his passing, he held the distinction of being the oldest active fire chief in Kentucky and the sixth-oldest active firefighter in the state.
Carter was also a familiar face at local funerals, where he regularly volunteered to honor and salute departed veterans. He remained active in the Hazard DAV Chapter 64 and was respected throughout the region for his dedication to veterans and community service.
A Kentucky Colonel, Shriner, and member of Nolan Lodge, Carter spent his life serving others and making a lasting impact on those around him.
He shared 57 years of marriage with his wife, Quinna Frazier Hall, and together they raised two sons, Derrick and Todd, while building a family legacy that continues through their grandchildren.
Carter Hall passed away on April 23, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of military service, leadership, and commitment to Perry County.
A reminder that even small towns gave everything for FREEDOM.
