🇺🇸 D-Day Remembrance 🇺🇸

Today, the Cornell American Legion Auxiliary pauses to remember one of the most courageous days in our nation’s history. On June 6, 1944, thousands of young men stepped onto the shores of Normandy knowing the odds were against them, yet they moved forward with unwavering bravery. They fought not for glory, but for freedom — for a world they hoped would be safer than the one they left behind.

We remember the soldiers who never returned home, the ones who carried the weight of that day for the rest of their lives, and the families who watched their loved ones leave with pride and fear in their hearts. Their sacrifice reshaped history, and their courage continues to echo through every generation that enjoys the freedoms they secured.

May we never forget the price that was paid on that distant shoreline. May we continue to honor their legacy by living with gratitude, unity, and purpose. Today, and always, we remember. 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served our country with courage, dedication, and selflessness. Their sacrifices, both seen and unseen, have protected the freedoms we hold dear and preserved the values that define our nation.

At the Cornell American Legion Auxiliary, we are proud to stand alongside our veterans, their families, and all who continue to serve. We thank you for your service, your strength, and your unwavering commitment to our great nation.

Let us remember that Veterans Day is not just a date on the calendar; it’s a reminder to show gratitude, offer support, and keep the spirit of service alive in our community.

Thank you, Veterans. We salute you.

Today, the Cornell American Legion Auxiliary Unit 353 proudly joins the nation in celebrating 250 years of honor, courage, and commitment.

From the earliest days of our country to the present, the men and women of the U.S. Navy have stood watch protecting our freedoms across the seas and representing the very best of America.

🎉 Happy Birthday, U.S. Air Force! 🇺🇸✈️

On September 18, 1947, the United States Air Force officially became a separate branch of our nation’s military. From its earliest days of pioneering flight to today’s cutting-edge aerospace operations, the Air Force has stood at the forefront of innovation, courage, and defense of our freedoms.

The American Legion Auxiliary proudly salutes all Airmen, past and present, whose service in the skies and beyond has safeguarded our Constitution and protected our way of life. Your dedication embodies the Air Force core values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.

Join us in honoring 78 years of excellence and in thanking every Airman who keeps our nation safe from above.
Aim High… Fly-Fight-Win!

On this night 24 years ago:
246 people went to sleep knowing they had a flight in the morning.
2,606 people went to sleep before work in the morning.
343 firefighters went to sleep knowing they might fight a fire and save a life the next day.
60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol.
8 paramedics went to sleep before their morning shift.
None of them saw past 9:59am on Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life would never be the same for thousands of people, their families, friends, and strangers.
Tonight before you go to sleep, to honor those who perished, please consider making the decision to never take one second of your life for granted.
Be kind.
Love intensely.
Work hard.
Volunteer.
Make every day count.
God bless those who perished.
God bless their families and friends.

Here is a powerful moment of patriotism and pride from our neighboring area!

Just before kickoff at last week's football game, Cadott High School senior Michael Wellner took his Oath of Enlistment with the Wisconsin Air National Guard, standing tall in front of a packed stadium of friends, family, and community members.

Surrounded by his entire football team for a heartfelt team breakdown afterward, Michael showed us all what it truly means to lead with honor, courage, and commitment.

Let’s not only thank our veterans but let’s also lift up and support our newest enlistees as they take their first steps in serving our great nation!

Congratulations, Michael! Thank you for taking the brave step to serve our country!

Have you given any thoughts on how you can honor the Veteran in your life? Or how you can give back to those who fought for our freedoms?
Well we’d love to have you as part of our Auxiliary family! I want to see this program continue on! It would be heartbreaking if we were to have to dissolve because of memberships. We aren’t at that point but I don’t want to even get close to it.
Everything we do is all in the spirit of Service, Not Self. We are a support to The American Legion and we honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. We work together to enhance our communities through volunteer work.
To qualify you must have connections in a relationship of the following:
Male spouse, female spouse, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, granddaughter or self of a Legionarie. These can be direct, step or adopted relationships.
Do you fit in any those categories but they are not a registered legion member? No problem! A legionnaire’s membership is FREE for the first year! Auxiliary members pay $30.
If the legionnaire is deceased, you would still qualify with the necessary records.
Please let us know if you have questions or are interested! We would be honored for you to join us as we continue to give back to our communities and to those that gave so much!

🇺🇸 Today, We Honor the Navajo Code Talkers 🇺🇸

On this day, August 14th, we pause to recognize the extraordinary courage and service of the Navajo Code Talkers, the brave Native American Marines whose unbreakable code played a vital role in securing Allied victory during World War II.

Speaking in their sacred language, these men developed and used a military code that was never deciphered by the enemy. Their dedication saved countless lives and helped bring the war to a swifter end.

The American Legion Auxiliary salutes these heroes, not only for their military contributions, but for the enduring legacy of honor, sacrifice, and patriotism they represent.

Let us remember them, thank them, and ensure their stories continue to be told for generations to come.
