The Levi Stewart Community Theater announces tryouts for our next production, "The Pie Ladies" by Sherry Piros
Tryouts: Thursday, June 18 at 6pm and Saturday June 20 at 10am
Performance Dates: August 14 – 16

In this series of 3 short comedies, a group of women pick up their rolling pins to make dozens of pies for the church supper as they discuss the “good old days” and the state of the world today.
The six Pie Ladies have the best intentions in the world but their plans are usually half-baked. Lots of action, practical jokes, and misunderstandings.

A series of 3 short, 25 – 40 minute comedies.
“The Pie Ladies”: The Pie Ladies plan to create their own country.
“The Pie Ladies Make Bail”: The Pie Ladies are in jail after trying to protect the flag of their new country. They are bailed out but now they owe a lot of money.
“The Pie Ladies in Deep Water”: The Pie Ladies go on a dream vacation cruise but once again they don’t follow their original recipe.

Characters
GLADIS, DULCIE, LUCILLE, VELDA, KITTY, NADINE: The 6 Pie Ladies.
PASTOR MAXELL
LOLA: Landlady.
GINGER: Neighbor woman.
DIXIE: Neighbor woman.
Cast of 16 for all three plays would also include these characters:
CRUISE DIRECTOR: Age 50–60
SUPA: Islander age 50–60, capable leader of the islanders of TupaPatu.
RANO: Islander age 50–60, also from TupaPatu. Solid group member.
NIHA: Islander age 50–70, also from TupaPatu. Still learning English.
SATIN: Age 50–70, attractive, wealthy, and still very interested in men.
SAVANNAH: Age 50–70, Satin’s sister, attractive, wealthy, and interested in other cultures, current events.

Story of the play
It is 6 PM, the Douglas family is busily preparing for their annual Christmas Eve dinner. After robbing a neighborhood liquor store, high strung and irritable Tony, and his dim-witted side-kick Vinny, find themselves in need of a hide-out. This play is a comic treasure that is sure to leave you in stitches while celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
