First I am very sad to see the close of Game Day Baseball. The economic benefit to the City and County was tremendous with hotel and restaurant sales. Yet, when GDB asked for help the city not only rejected their application the city undercut the operation by building the Liberty Complex at the fairgrounds which still lacks the infrastructure to support families traveling to Memphis for youth sports.

Additionally, I am not thrilled with this area being chosen for a high school. It is zoned for heavy industrial activity which is evident by the surrounding industrial activities.

I hope the school board, along with the Office of Planning and Development and the Memphis City Council will take a serious look at altering the potential activities that can be taken on surrounding land to create the proper environment for educating Cordova students.

Shelby County Government has agreed to provide Shelby County Schools with $72 Million to construct a new Cordova High School.

The City of Germantown and Memphis-Shelby County Schools have reached an agreement in the disputed ownership of the suburb’s namesake schools, otherwise known as the 3Gs.
