Elk City Regional Speech Contest✨

Cordell FFA Members, Gabi Hamburger and Rylee King, competed at the Elk City Regional Speech Contest yesterday evening in Weatherford, OK.

Rylee King placed 2nd in the FFA Creed division and has advanced to the Southwest Area Speech Contest! King will compete next Tuesday at Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK.

Celebratory ice cream was a must! These two young ladies have worked hard to develop their public speaking skills over the past two years and have bright futures ahead of them in the Prepared Public Speaking CDE.

Livestock & Meat Judging✨

Over the past two weeks, Cordell FFA Livestock Judgers and Cordell 4H Meat Judgers have traveled many miles across the state to compete at different competitions this season.

Our Sr. Livestock Judging Team set a goal of qualifying for the State Livestock Judging Competition at Oklahoma State University. We are proud to say these boys accomplished their goal and are headed to Stillwater, OK later this month🤩

State FFA Degree Recipient’s✨

The Cordell FFA Chapter is proud to announce that three of our senior members have been selected to receive the coveted State FFA Degree! The State FFA Degree is the highest honor bestowed upon a member at the state level.

These members must have been active for two consecutive years, compete at or attend a minimum of 20 FFA activities, serve as a volunteer earning a minimum of 25 hours of community service, maintain a satisfactory grade point average and create a net profit in their SAE projects.

These members will be regonized for their achievements on May 6th during the last general session of the 100th Oklahoma State FFA Convention at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.

National FFA Week✨

💙 Monday: Red, White & Blue Day! Throw on your patriotic attire and show everyone your pride in American agriculture. Come out & support the Cordell FFA / 4H livestock exhibitors as they show their livestock projects at the Wash*ta County Junior Livestock Show.

💛 Tuesday: Country vs. Country Club Day! Throw on your boots & cowboy hats or grab your golf clubs and visors. The Wash*ta County Premium Sale for livestock exhibitors will be at 6:00 PM.

💙 Wednesday: Dress Like a Champion Day! Grab your starched jeans, button downs & boots and show us your Grand Champion attire. Cordell FFA will be feeding teachers and staff lunch as a small token of our appreciation for all the hard work they do! We will also be taking our group FFA pictures.

💛 Thursday: Camo & Overalls Day! Sport your favorite camo gear or throw on a pair of overalls. Drive Anything but a Vehicle to school! Please park larger machinery in the grass lot South of the Ag Building. FFA members will be treated to a chapter lunch!

💙 Friday: Dynamic Duos Day! Find a buddy and dress as your favorite dynamic duo. Join us at the Ag Building from 1st-5th hours for a Kiss the Calf Field Day where Cordell FFA members will have fun activities for students while they learn what our organization has to offer (Grades 7th through 12th).

All students K-12 are encouraged to participate in the themed dress-up days!

Governor Kevin Stitts State of the State Address✨

This past Monday, Joe Wilson and Denton Cook from Cordell and Delainee Moore from Canute were among a group of students that were invited to the State Capitol to watch Governor Stitts State of the State address from the Blue Room.

After the State of the State, the students had the opportunity to meet with Secretary of Agriculture, Blayne Arthur, and Governor Stitt. From there, they were invited to lunch at the Governor’s Mansion with the Governor and the First Lady.

Thank you to these students for representing both the Cordell and Canute FFA Chapters, as well as the agricultural youth of Wash*ta County! We sure are proud of these young men and women🤩

State FFA Officer Goodwill Tour✨

Earlier this week, 13 freshmen Cordell FFA Members traveled to Elk City for the State FFA Officer Goodwill Tour. Cordell FFA gathered with neighboring chapters: Elk City FFA, Sayre FFA & Arapaho-Butler FFA.

Members from all chapters had the opportunity to hear from four of our current State FFA Officers about opportunities within the National FFA Organization, the process of becoming a State FFA Officer candidate, as well as general advice on how to get the most out of your time in the blue corduroy jacket!
