🧪🐉🌿 Science in action! 🌿🐉🧪

We're excited to share that our 5th/6th grade science teacher, Mrs. Cadie Koosman, is currently attending STEAM in the PARK at 🌄 New River Gorge National Park and Preserve!

This week, Mrs. Koosman is working alongside scientists as part of the 🐲 Dragonfly Mercury Project, collecting and studying dragonfly larvae to help researchers better understand mercury levels in waterways across North America. 🌎💧

How cool is that? 🤩 Dragonflies spend much of their lives underwater, making them excellent indicators of ecosystem health. By participating in this project, Mrs. Koosman is contributing to real scientific research while gaining hands-on experiences to bring back to the classroom! 🔬📚

At St. John's, we love seeing our teachers continue to learn, explore, and share their passion with students. ❤️🖤 We can't wait to hear about all the amazing discoveries Mrs. Koosman brings home!

😊😊 We are so proud of Mrs. Sarah Carter! She was selected to participate in the LCMS SLED program (School Leadership Development Project), which recognizes outstanding educators with administrative potential.

Mrs. Carter will spend the next year training under a respected mentor to learn how to lead a Lutheran school.

Way to go, Mrs. Carter!!

Do you love stories, photographs, history, and preserving memories? 📖

As Lutheran Island Camp prepares for its 75th anniversary, we are looking for a volunteer historian/archivist to help preserve and organize the story of camp ministry across generations.

Projects could include:
• Organizing historical photos and documents
• Collecting camper and staff stories
• Helping identify people, dates, and events from old photographs
• Preserving camp artifacts and memorabilia
• Assisting with anniversary displays, timelines, or history projects

For generations, God has worked through this place in powerful ways. Help us preserve those stories so they can inspire future campers, families, and staff for years to come.

Sounds like our 3rd graders officially discovered the band room today. 😂🎶

Thanks to our awesome partnership with Encore Ensembles , students got to test out instruments, make some interesting noises, and maybe discover their hidden musical talent.

Parents… prepare yourselves. There’s a decent chance someone is coming home asking for a trombone tonight. 🎺❤️🖤 (Watch until the end to hear them playing!)

Move over athletes...the POTATOES have arrived! 🥔🏅🔥

Every year, our 5th graders look forward to one of the most legendary traditions at St. John’s — the annual Potato Olympics with Mrs. Koosman! From potato relays to laugh-out-loud challenges, this day is packed with teamwork, creativity, competition, and SO much fun.

We love how Mrs. Koosman brings learning to life in unforgettable ways and creates the kind of classroom memories students talk about for years. ❤️🖤🥔
