Young Footliters Youth Theatre Welcome to Young Footliters Youth Theatre, dedicated to providing a positive acting and performing arts experience to Coralville-area kids in grades K-12.

Young Footliters is a non-profit, youth-centered theater organization that offers families in the Iowa City area fun, creative and educational opportunities to experience theater arts in a safe, positive and professional environment. Through our quality productions and instructional classes, Young Footliters promotes life skills such as responsibility,

confidence, leadership, and cooperation, as well as appreciation of the arts. As a volunteer organization, our driving force is a network of parents & community members dedicated to creating a positive experience for everyone involved. Parent participation is vital to, and required for, the success of every production and is commensurate to the effort young people give and the enjoyment they receive. Iowa City's vibrant theater community provides Young Footliters with professional and local talent to draw upon and collaborate with in all aspects of theater production. Young Footliters is committed to the use of theater arts to encourage our young people to become involved members of their communities.

There's only 5 SPACES LEFT for the June 22–26 session of the newest Footliters Traveling Playhouse show! Students ages 7–18 will meet at City High to audition, rehearse, and perform a musical alongside three professional teaching artists...in one week! 🎭

The Case of the Missing Masterpiece is a brand-new 50-minute production with script by Katie Colletta and music by Jason Sifford. It's the party of the year in Paris, until the night is thrown into chaos… the world’s most famous masterpiece is missing! 🥳Opportunity alert! Are you a high school student who loves theatre and wants to inspire the next generation? The Jr. Theatre Leaders Program is your chance to lead, learn, and grow—on stage and beyond.

We are looking for up to three self-motivated, responsible rising high school juniors and seniors who will work directly with Teaching Artist Mentors to gain the skills and experience to be confident in leading a class.

Jr. Theatre Leaders will:
⭐️ Complete fundamental Teaching Artist training
⭐️ Assist in Young Footliters classrooms with kids ages 5–11
⭐️ Create and deliver lesson plans
⭐️ Learn and implement emotional support strategies for young people
⭐️ Reflect on your values and goals by writing a personal Artist’s Statement that connects your experiences as both a performer and teacher (useful for college applications!)

Applications are OPEN today and will remain open through August 15. We can’t wait to meet the next generation of artist-educators.
