💔UPDATE: With a heavy heart we are sad to inform you all that Luna has passed away.

Im crushed knowing that her playful, energetic soul will never welcome me home from work again. She will never take her walk with our neighbors or her bf Blackjack again.

Ultimately her cause of death was that her throat had somehow been crushed, completely preventing her from properly eating, drinking, and breathing. This was diagnosed through an xray earlier today, with unknown cause.

Thank you to all who donated to the care she received.

Luna comes around like clockwork to be fed and have play time every morning and night.

A couple weeks ago, we noticed that Luna wasn't eating or drinking water. She also started sneezing and having discharge from her nose.

A week after that, she disappeared and we thought the worst. Trying to stay hopeful, we continued to look for her everyday.

Yesterday we finally found her, seemingly not far from death. She was completely limp, drooling, weak, and totally disoriented. She allowed us to easily pick her up and bring her to the vet.

The first vet she was brought to did a CBC (complete blood count), administered a small amount of subcutaneous fluids, an antibiotic injection, and an anti nausea injection. Which minimally stabilize her and encouraged her to finally eat and drink again.

She is currently under the care of a different vet in Hialeah, FL. She is in critical condition and is staying there over night. She is receiving continuous IV fluids, xrays, and continued care. The vet said we could've lost her within 48 hours if we didn't get her this help as soon as we did.

Shelters see a 30-60% increase of lost pets on the 4th of July. Not strays....LOST PETS.

Party all you want but, keep your animals indoors and safe!

Britt & Bruce Rescue will be spending the evening looking for lost pets tonight.

Nonetheless, we love America and wish you all a happy 250th year anniversary celebration!

UPDATE on Blackjack, our apartment complex community kitty, he finally received the care he needed at Cats Exclusive, Inc. Thank you to everyone who donated to his cause. This care potentially saved his life.

Blackjack had an exam, his vaccines updated, he recieve prevenative care for fleas and ticks, along with symptomatic ear medication, and hyperthyroidism bloodwork (results will be given to us on Thursday). We also learned he is about 8-10 years old.

Today was quite the adventurous day for the both of us. Please check out the videos and photos from our day together.

Blackjack has an appointment at Cats Exclusive.
He will recieve treatment for his ear, vaccine updates (he is past due for his feline leukemia vaccine - this virus (FeLV) is a leading infectious cause of death in cats, especially strays.)

He also will be receiving prevenative care for heartworm, fleas, and ticks.
