Our team of 100 doctors, dentists, physical therapists, nurses, pharmacists, and volunteers recently returned from our medical mission to the ILAC Center in Santiago, Dominican Republic sponsored by the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta. In a 4-day period our medical team, which included specialists in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Adult Urology, Emergency Medicine, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Dentistry, Gynecology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology and Dermatology, treated 1,183 patients. Many of these patients saw 2 or 3 specialists. Over 75 ultrasonographic studies were performed by our team. from Misericordia University.

It is an honor to take care of the Dominican Campesinos. Our Dominican friends are a noble people who are so grateful for what we do. But the reality is that even though we bring healing to them in the form of our care and our medications, we receive so much more from them knowing that we are helping our fellowmen and women. We feel this so strongly in our hearts every time we travel to Santiago on these missions.

This Christmas season, Casa de Malta, a project of the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta, opened its doors to celebrate a joyful Christmas party for the members of our community especially children.

Through shared meals, laughter, gifts, and moments of fellowship, we celebrated the true meaning of Christmas: the love of Christ made present among us. In welcoming those in need and the little ones, we were reminded that the Child born in Bethlehem continues to dwell among us in those we serve.

We give thanks to God for all our volunteers, benefactors, and friends whose generosity made this celebration possible. May the light of Christ’s birth fill every heart with hope, peace, and joy.

Casa de Malta, a project of the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta, gathered our community for a heartfelt Thanksgiving lunch rooted in faith, service, and gratitude to God.

Around the table, we shared not only a festive meal but also the joy of living out our Christian mission: to see Christ in the poor, to welcome the lonely, and to serve those most in need with love. Moments like these remind us that every act of charity is a reflection of God’s abundant mercy.

We offer our sincere thanks to all the volunteers, benefactors, and friends who helped make this day possible. May the Lord bless your generosity, and may the spirit of Thanksgiving strengthen our commitment to bring hope and dignity to those entrusted to our care.
