With deep sadness, the SFWGA shares the passing of a valued member of our community, Luis Rivera, who tragically lost his life yesterday in an accident. Luis was a dedicated staff member at Okeechobee High School and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and students during this difficult time.

A proud Flanagan High School and Relentless Winterguard alumna, Sophia is spending her rookie season in DCI with the Crossmen—and her journey to get here is nothing short of incredible.

When the opportunity came to fill in for an injured performer, Sophia stepped up, learned an entire spot in less than a week before Champs, and earned her place on the field. Her determination, resilience, and hard work are a true testament to what can happen when preparation meets opportunity.

SFWGA is thrilled to introduce FAU Winter Guard, a brand-new program at Florida Atlantic University that will debut during the 2027 Winter Guard season!

Message from the directors:

As we begin building our program, we invite performers of all experience levels to join us for our FAU Guard Clinic on Saturday, August 22.
This clinic is designed to be a fun, educational, and welcoming experience where participants can:

•Learn dance, flag, and rifle techniques

•Develop new skills in a supportive environment

•Meet fellow performers from across South Florida

Get to know our staff and our vision for FAU Winter Guard whether you’re a seasoned performer or simply interested in trying something new, we’d love to have you join us.

This clinic is open to everyone and is not an audition. Official auditions for the 2027 competitive ensemble will be held later in September, with details to be announced soon.
We hope you’ll come spin, dance, learn, and help us celebrate the beginning of something special.
