Day of Caring for Breast Cancer Awareness, South Florida Day of Caring is an educational and inspirational day to increase Breast Cancer Awareness and honor Survivors. It’s not all serious, however.

The Day of Caring for Breast Cancer Awareness is a locally-planned, volunteer-based, self-supporting community event designed to educate, empower and give hope to everyone affected by breast cancer. It is a day when those concerned about breast cancer can come together for an educational experience where researchers, doctors and other experts lead workshops in topics of importance to breast cancer

survivors, their friends, family, and treatment providers. Included are seminars on nutrition, alternative therapies, the latest innovations in hormone, chemotherapy and surgical treatments, as well as help in living with cancer and the after-effects of treatment. A wonderful gourmet lunch is served, and an exciting fashion show is presented as well. All of the models in the fashion show, both women and men, have had breast cancer. The people who attend Day of Caring leave feeling empowered and inspired, knowing that there are resources in the community for them, and that they CAN handle it all.

We are taking this opportunity to reach out to our friends and supporters to inform you that after careful consideration, the Executive Board of Directors for the South Florida Day of Caring has decided to dissolve our organization, and to donate our proceeds to charities that we feel are benefitting the local cancer community.

Please know that it was a difficult decision, but COVID made it impossible to meet in person for the past three years. During that time, many support groups have provided support programming and resources that have benefitted breast cancer patients and survivors. We feel that our founder, Mickey Whiting, would be proud of the Day of Caring and its legacy, and would understand and support our decision.

In the coming months you will receive an invitation for a celebratory luncheon to thank all of our friends and supporters that have been a part of the Day of Caring throughout the years.
