Most couples wait until they are on the brink before reaching out. ๐Ÿ‘€

Dr. Brian Doss addresses one of the most common misconceptions about couples therapy that you have to be in crisis before it is worth pursuing.

The truth is, the earlier you reach out, the easier it is to course correct. When couples wait too long, the patterns are more entrenched, the distance is wider, and the work is harder.

If you can sense things moving in the wrong direction, that is already reason enough to make the call.

September gets all the credit for fresh starts. But October is when the reset actually sticks.

The schedule is back. The chaos of summer is behind you. And for the first time in months, there is some predictability to work with.

That predictability is an opportunity. Protect a small amount of it for your relationship this fall.

Which habit are you committing to? React below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

World Mental Health Day is a good reminder that asking for help is one of the most important things you can do. ๐Ÿ’™

That includes help for your relationship. Reaching out, whether for yourself, your partner, or both of you together, takes courage. And it's always worth it.

Relationship health and mental health are more connected than most people realize. When one improves, the other often follows.

P.S. One small step you can take today, tell someone you trust how you are actually doing. Not the "I'm fine" version. The real one.

The number one way to make your partner feel understood? Stop planning your response while they're still talking. ๐ŸŽฏ

Dr. Brian Doss explains why most of us are only half listening in conversations and how that one habit quietly blocks real connection.

The fix is simpler than most people expect: slow down.

Reflect back what you heard. Something as simple as "so what I'm hearing is..." or "that sounds really stressful" signals to your partner that you were actually present.

And when your partner feels heard, they become far more open to what you have to say next.

Q4 is one of the most stressful quarters of the year.

End of year deadlines. Budget reviews. Holiday planning. Performance reviews. It all lands at once and employees carry that stress home.

Relationship distress is already the presenting issue in 12% of EAP appointments. In Q4 that number only climbs.

If your benefits package does not include relationship support, this is the quarter you will feel that gap most.

Military life doesn't leave a lot of room for in-person programs.

The schedules are unpredictable. Your time is limited. And traditional couples therapy often isn't built around that reality.

One participant put it simply, she loved the program so much she passed it along to a military friend who needed something flexible enough to actually fit their life.

Turns out "never go to bed angry" isn't great advice. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Dr. Brian Doss breaks down why forcing a conversation before you're ready often makes things worse and what actually works instead.

People recover from conflict at different rates. Pushing someone to talk before they've had time to calm down usually leads to defensiveness, withdrawal, and the same argument all over again.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is give each other space and come back when you're both ready.

Trick or treat? ๐ŸŽƒ

The scariest thing in a relationship isn't a haunted house. It's realizing you've been stuck in the same pattern for months and not knowing how to get out of it.

This spooky season, skip the tricks. A little kindness, some patience, and actually listening to your partner go further than most people expect.

Happy spouse, happy house. ๐Ÿ‘ป

Most couples have moments when it feels like communication is the problem.

But sometimes, it's the communication cycle you've fallen into that keeps getting in the way.

One person pulls away. The other pushes harder. Nothing gets resolved. Repeat.

We made a free guide that walks through two common communication cycles couples can get stuck in and how to start breaking them.

Hot take: the most romantic thing you can do for your relationship is protect 10 minutes a day for each other.

Not a weekend getaway. Not a grand gesture. Just 10 minutes. Phones down. Present.

Try it for a week and report back.
