Become a BSA Certified Angling Instructor (CAI) with an online course (via Zoom) on six consecutive Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:00pm EST, starting November 7.
Strengthen your Council’s Fishing Program by taking the Certified Angler Instructor Course! Fishing is a great way to increase Cub recruitment in your council. As a CAI, you will learn to teach fishing skills, and plan and run fishing events for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing crews. Graduates will be expected to lead fishing events and education in their council – and see the smiles that result when our youth catch fish.
Serve as a fishing instructor for Packs, Troops, Crews, Camps, High Adventure, and National Jamboree staff. Improve your council's fishing events, Cub Day Camp, summer camp staff, weekend events and programs, or in your own unit! Graduates are also qualified for national fishing staff positions, Order of the Arrow conferences, and help train fishing staff at high-adventure bases and beyond!
This CAI course is for adult leaders and Scouting youth (must be age 15 and up), who enjoy teaching fishing skills to our youth and want to enhance their teaching and event planning skills in the fishing area. This course is not for those who just want a patch or just to improve their fishing skills, this course will prepare you to teach fishing to Scouting youth. You will be expected to plan and lead fishing events as part of the CAI community once you complete the course.
It is hosted by the Cape Cod & Islands Council but is open to participants from all BSA councils nationwide.
Please join us if you are interested in helping build the fishing program in your unit or council! This course will sell out quickly. Learn more and register here today:
