We started with one group in this library room. One became two—and today, Voices of Change has eight groups across three locations, more than 75 referrals since January, and 35 clients currently being served.

Today, we celebrate our first participant’s successful program completion! My heart is full. This milestone honors the work put in and the continued commitment to accountability and healthier relationships.

I recently spoke with a man who was crying and afraid his wife might stab him. He was looking for somewhere safe to live and said he had already reached out for help without finding what he needed.

If he crossed your path, would you know where to refer him?

I want Worthy Voices to help close gaps like this: to be listed where people look for help, and to know which local resources can respond when someone’s situation doesn’t fit the assumptions people make about domestic violence.

Voices of Change program as of today’s date :

Went from 1 participant to 36 active participants in eight months.🥹

Approximately 95% of participants who entered Voices of Change remain actively engaged in services.

What began with one facilitator, one group, one participant, and no permanent program space is becoming an eight-group intervention program serving participants across Travis County with a growing three-person facilitation team.

We didn't wait until we had everything we needed to begin. We began with that one participant and borrowed library meeting space, and we built from there.

In eight months, Voices of Change has processed 67 referrals through what has essentially been a one-person intake and orientation infrastructure, grown to 36 active participants, secured program space across Austin, and expanded from one group to eight groups—four currently operating and four more scheduled to launch in September.

And all of this came while simultaneously building Worthy Voices itself—securing our 501(c)(3) status, earning our initial BIPP accreditation, receiving approval to serve Travis County referrals, completing our accreditation audit, building community relationships, doing outreach, fundraising, responding to community needs, and continuing to develop the other programming we know our community needs.

There is still A LOT to build. A lot that needs strengthening. A lot I am still learning as we grow.

But sometimes we have to stop looking at everything that still needs to be done long enough to look back at what has already been built.

One participant. One group. Borrowed space.

Eight months later: 67 referrals. 36 active participants. 8 groups. 3 locations. A growing team.

One last but very meaningful point of all of this is that all 67 of those referrals are lives, are people who we had the privilege to talk to and have a chance to impact their life in a positive way.

That matters to us the most!💛
