✨GRANT RECIPIENT SPOTLIGHT ✨

We are honored to award a community grant to the Negrete Firefighter Foundation 🩵❤️

Negrete Firefighter Foundation was created in honor of Jose Negrete by his family. Jose served on the Copperas Cove Fire Department from May 2016 until his passing from a line of duty illness on July 28, 2020. To perpetuate his legacy, the Foundation assist's aspiring firefighters in achieving their dreams by providing scholarships for fire academy and EMT program training.

This grant will directly help support scholarship funding for the Negrete Firefighter Foundation.

At The Great Place Thrift Shop, every donation stays local, and this is a beautiful example of that impact in action. Thank you to our customers, donors, volunteers, consignors, and staff for helping us give back to organizations that are making a meaningful difference in our surrounding community every day.

Hello Future Firefighters/EMTs!

The Negrete Firefighter Foundation is excited to announce that we are officially accepting video applications for our 2027 scholarship!

Our foundation was created to honor the life, service, and legacy of Jose Negrete, a dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic who devoted himself to serving others. Each year, we have the privilege of meeting aspiring firefighters who share that same passion for service, courage, and commitment to their communities.

And now, we’re ready to meet our next group of future firefighters! ❤️🚒

🎥 HOW TO APPLY

Please submit a video no longer than 5 minutes telling us:

Why do you want to serve as a firefighter?

We want to hear your story. Tell us about your passion, your motivation, and what becoming a firefighter means to you.

📅 FINAL DAY TO SUBMIT:
November 1, 2026

Once applications close, the Negrete Firefighter Foundation Board will review all video submissions and select the applicant(s) who will move forward to the next step of the scholarship process.

🚒 NEXT STEP: IN-PERSON INTERVIEWS

Selected applicants will be invited to meet with our Board for an in-person interview.

Every new firefighter we are able to support gives us another opportunity to keep Jose’s passion for helping others alive. Through each scholarship recipient, his legacy continues to grow, flourish, and make a difference in the communities he cared so deeply about.
