Copper Harbor Trails Club

Copper Harbor Trails Club Michigan's northernmost mountain biking trail network. IMBA Silver Level Ride Center since 2012. The Copper Harbor trails are free to use and open to the public.

Our trails are open year-round, come rain or sun or feet of snow. We welcome trail users of all ages, ability, race, color, orientation, gender, religion, profession, or however else you identify yourself. On the trail, we’re all equal in our love for being outdoors in the Keweenaw’s magnificent woods and rocky shorelines. Our trails are sustainably built and optimized for mountain bikes. However,

that’s not to say that other trail users aren’t allowed. With the exception of a few dedicated downhill rippers, all of our singletrack trails are multi-use for all non-motorized pursuits. That means hikers, birdwatchers, berry pickers, rockhounds, backpackers, trail runners, dog walkers, photographers, and basically anyone propelling themselves with their own two feet can use our trails alongside our mountain biking brethren. In the winter, snowshoers, and backcountry explorers take over the system. XC skiers and fatbikers can enjoy a few loops closer to town on the easier-to-groom terrain and unplowed roads. Per our landowners’ requests, we do not currently allow E-bikes on our singletrack trails. The Copper Harbor Trails Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are officially incorporated as the Copper Harbor Trails Society Inc., but we thought Club sounded more appealing at some point in our history and stuck with it. We partner with several other organizations in the Copper Country to improve trail access and conditions for all users. Our goal? To make the Keweenaw one of the top trail destinations not just in Michigan or the Midwest, but the world. Don’t believe it? Come up and see for yourself what makes Copper Harbor so special!

It's almost Thursday. You know what that means. 🙌🚵

Thursday Night Group Rides are BACK kicking off June 4! Whether you're a weekly regular or it's your first time rolling with us, all you have to do is show up. Meet us a little before 6:30 PM and let's get after it.

GENERAL GROUP RIDE Meet Nick at the East Bluff Bike Park parking lot. Expect a Bluejay Picnic warm-up lap to shake out the legs, then the group heads out for a Highlands Loop.

LADIES GROUP RIDE Meet at the Welcome Center, Hannah's leading this one on the core trails. We're rolling out of town up Berry Picker, flowing into The Flow (obviously), then hitting Raptors Ridge before looping through West Whoopidy Woo, Garden Brook, Cabin Life, Say Hello, Ma Maki, and finishing with a final descent down Snowshoe.

Oh, and did we mention it's completely free? We'll never say no to a donation to keep the trails in top shape, but mostly we just want to see you out there.

Come ride with us! 🤘

Wish you were here. Actually... wish you were STILL here.

Somehow Ride the Keweenaw goes by way too fast. From Adventure Mine laps and Swedetown group rides to Michigan Tech family rides, Churning Rapids adventures, and a full weekend ending with the Copper Harbor Enduro.

Once again, huge thanks to the riders, volunteers, trail crews, families, and everyone who brought the energy all weekend long. What a way to kick off the season.

A sure sign summer has arrived in Copper Harbor:

Thursday night group rides are happening again with the first one kicking off on June 4!

The dirt is good, the daylight lasts forever, and there’s something deeply reassuring about a small crowd of muddy mountain bikers standing around a parking lot trying to decide if one more lap is a terrible idea.

Come ride bikes with us. Route will be shared Tuesday's before the ride!

Unreal weekend in the Keweenaw. Thanks for making this enduro one to remember.

When you show up to events like this one you are directly supporting our mission to build, maintain and advocate for the very same trails you spent the weekend racing on. Every registration, every poster, every piece of merch, every membership — it all comes back to the trails. It always comes back to the trails.

So thank you. Genuinely. For making the drive, for racing hard, for volunteering, for cheering strangers across finish lines, for buying the poster.

Come back soon.

Women’s group ride = a scientifically proven way to have at least 37% more fun on a bike ✨

A little line spotting, a little hype squad energy, and a little tow-in encouragement before race day tomorrow.

See you at the start line tomorrow!

p.s. CHTC host weekly women's MTB group rides. First one kicks off June 4 !

This is how the Copper Harbor Enduro ends and we wouldn't have it any other way. Snowshoe Trail is short, punchy, and completely unforgiving: roots, mud, loose rocks, and a ditch at the end that has a personal vendetta against your front wheel. Named after a tiny snowshoe sign hanging at the bottom.

There's a handful of Enduro spots still on the table — grab one before they're gone.

⚡️ RTK guided rides kick off TONIGHT at Swedetown Trails (5:30 PM) + SöKē / Adventure Mine(6:30 PM). See you there!

Full weekend schedule can be found on our website.

⚠️Please read if you are using the trails Memorial Day Weekend

Copper Harbor is about to be buzzing. The Copper Harbor Enduro AND the Back 9 Endurance Race are both happening this weekend, which means more riders, more runners, and more people out there doing what they love. Sharing the trails is always the vibe here—this weekend just calls for a little extra awareness.

🚨Preriding Saturday? Take Cabin Life → Chipmunk Run → Red Trail. No Golf Course Rd.
🚨Follow all signage and respect instructions from race staff and landowners.
🚨Some trails may be closed during the Back 9 Race, please respect the closures.
🚨Yield to runners if your paths cross.

The Back 9 has runners on course Saturday 8 AM straight through to Sunday 8 AM. The trails on Keweenaw Mountain Lodge property sit inside the Keweenaw Dark Sky Park, the only one in the UP, where the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. Those runners will be grinding through some of the darkest, starriest skies in the Midwest at 3 AM. Honestly? Kind of incredible. So let's keep the dark sky dark — no artificial lights on these trails. If you're looking to get some night riding in, head over to the East Bluff system instead.

Share the trails, hype each other up, have the best weekend.

The trails are in good hands. Welcome to the crew. 🤘 Four legends just earned their spot on the Copper Harbor Bike Patrol.

Saturday they wrapped up their National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Care training: 20 hours of learning how to actually handle it when things go sideways on trail. CPR, bleeding control, patient assessment, shock treatment, coordinating with EMS.

They also got hands-on with our new wheeled litter which, yes, is as cool as it sounds.

Huge thanks to Mont Ripley and Mont Ripley Ski Patrol for the space, all the volunteers who gave up their day to help run scenarios, and Keweenaw Co+op Market & Deli + Laurium Bites for keeping everyone fed and happy.
