A Heartfelt Farewell from Lone Star Labrador Rescue

For over 21 years, Lone Star Labrador Rescue has been the hope for countless Labrador Retrievers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since our founding in 2004, our volunteers have worked tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome hundreds of Labs, giving them a second chance at a happy life. Today, with mixed emotions and a deep sense of gratitude, we announce that it’s time for us to hang up our leash and close the doors of Lone Star Labrador Rescue.

A Journey of Love and Dedication
In those 21 years, we’ve witnessed the most beautiful transformations— Labs from shelters all over DFW finding their forever homes, and families welcoming these loving, loyal companions into their hearts. From the first rescue to the last adoption, we’ve always been driven by one simple goal: to make the world a better place for Labradors and the people who love them.

Gratitude to Our Volunteers and Supporters

We could not have done any of this without our incredible team of volunteers. These selfless individuals worked around the clock — helping with transport, fostering, fundraising, and spreading the word about the importance of rescue. Your passion and dedication have been the lifeblood of this organization, and for that, we are forever grateful.

To our supporters— donors, adopters, and partners— you have been the reason we were able to save so many lives. Your financial contributions, your time, and your trust in us allowed us to continue our work year after year. The love you’ve shown our Labradors has made all the difference.

Why Now?
The decision to retire and close Lone Star Labrador Rescue was not made lightly. After much consideration, we’ve realized that the time has come for us to step back. The world of rescue is always evolving, and while we’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of so many, it’s time to turn the leash over to a younger generation of rescuers.

The Legacy of Lone Star Labrador Rescue

Though our rescue group is closing, the spirit of Lone Star Labrador Rescue will live on in the thousands of lives we’ve touched. To each dog we saved, every family we helped find their perfect companion, and every volunteer who offered their heart and hands—thank you for making our journey unforgettable.

As we turn the page to the next chapter, we hope that the love and care we’ve shared will inspire others to continue the mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming.

Our email and phone number will continue to be operational, to support any Lone Star Labrador adopters who might need help with microchip registrations or advice.

We are no longer be able to accept new dogs into the program.

Thank you once again to all who have been part of our journey. You’ve given us more than we could ever express, and we are proud of the legacy we leave behind.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Lone Star Labrador Rescue

PLEASE rest assured that Lone Star Labrador Rescue has never used Save This Life microchips.

We exclusively use AKC microchips and register them with AKC Reunite. Some dogs pulled from shelters were already implanted with Home Again or 24 PetWatch chips. We still manage and update all of the microchips in our adopted Labradors.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Save This Life Microchip Company has shut down and is no longer responding to customer inquiries. This means that their microchips are no longer a reliable way to find lost pets.
The state filed a "Forfeited Existence" for Save This Life Microchip Company for not paying their taxes.
This means that the company is no longer allowed to communicate with the public.
As a result, it is no longer possible to retrieve owner information from Save This Life microchips.
If the chip number starts with 991 or 900164, it's likely you have an STL chip.
We are so very proud to announce that Louie has been adopted!! This adoption was a long time coming, but we knew the RIGHT home was out there. We just had to keep looking. Louie is a really active dog who craves attention. He needed a home with plenty of attention, activity and engagement. We got an application that looked perfect for him and we were right!!! Louie has settled in with his new dad. They are inseparable! Louie even gets to go to work with his dad every day and is now the official Office Dog! The staff loves to take a break and play fetch with him in the big office warehouse. Louie, you are one very lucky boy!!
