Glenn Garcelon Foundation

Glenn Garcelon Foundation Glenn Garcelon Foundation exists to improve the lives of those living with a brain tumor diagnosis.

Each year approximately 80,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary brain tumor. In addition to the often debilitating physical effects such as severe headaches, seizures, hearing loss, loss of balance and difficulties with coordination, brain tumors may also cause cognitive, behavioral and emotional problems. In some cases, these symptoms are severe enough that round-the-clock

supervision is needed, forcing patients and their loved ones to face financial challenges after a brain tumor diagnosis. The Glenn Garcelon Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) was founded to honor a man who devoted his life to serving others. In late 2004, Glenn, a former Denton resident, was diagnosed with an inoperable, malignant glioblastoma brain tumor. He courageously fought this disease, but in April, 2008, he lost his battle. This Foundation was established in 2011 with the goal of improving the day to day lives of those living with brain cancer, as well as helping their caregivers.

What does "Go Gray in May" mean? Gray is the color of brain matter and during National Brain Tumor Month, people are encouraged to wear something gray to let brain tumor patients and the community know that you support them. While you Go Gray, consider giving a gift to show your support by making a donation to our mission.

When one is informed that they have glioblastoma brain cancer, they most likely have never heard the word before. An internet search about this disease is terrifying for both the patient and family. The statistics are grim, but thankfully some progress is being made in treatments. Yet many patients are unable to afford the travel and lodging expenses to the cities where clinical trials are being conducted.
The Glenn Garcelon Foundation exists to help provide financial assistance to those individuals, but we can't do it without you. A donation from you will help with these expenses and provide some hope to brain tumor patients.

To celebrate National Brain Tumor Month, this is our "Why?" Glenn Garcelon was perfectly healthy (or so we thought). He was running several miles a day and cycling 30+ miles on other days. On July 31, 2004 he enjoyed a fun afternoon at the playground with our grandson, Matthew. Less than 5 weeks later he was diagnosed with inoperable Glioblastoma brain cancer. Our lives changed in an instant and 3 1/2 years later Matthew lost his granddad.
Since then we have dedicated our lives to providing much needed financial assistance to brain tumor patients whose lives have also changed in an single moment. Please consider making a donation so our work can continue in Glenn's honor.

Thank you for supporting these brain tumor patients.

Within the past few weeks, we have learned of the passing of 16 of our grant recipients. Our thoughts are with the families of those pictured below, plus Lyle Daniello who passed away September, 2022 of a Glioblastoma (no photo available).

Please consider making a donation to help fund grants to other brain tumor patients.

Forty of our grant recipients passed away this year. We will forever remember how hard they fought to beat this horrid disease. We will forever hold their loved ones in our hearts. We will forever remember the support you gave so we could help them during their time of need.
