A school counselor reached out to Carson's Village after a student lost a brother. The family is from Guatemala and the only language they speak is a dialect from their village. One family member did speak Spanish and agreed to translate for the family. They expressed being lost and not knowing where to start or what to do. The Carson’s Village Advocate explained the mission of Carson's Village, reviewed the process, and answered the family’s questions. The Advocate contacted multiple funeral homes and negotiated prices. The Advocate provided the family with the information and explained how to select the best funeral home based on their budget and requested services. Having a live Advocate ensured that the family had all of the support that they needed, when they needed it most.
