A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Social Work in Action! 🌿✨
What does a week in the life of a social work intern at CYOP look like? Swipe through to check out this awesome recap created by our former BSW intern, Molly! ➡️

At Carve Your Own Path, our interns don't just sit behind a desk—they are out in our community! From bringing creative bubble art into local middle schools and hosting song lyric collage groups, to sharing low-barrier resources at community events and holding space in our Copley office, their work touches so many lives.

As August comes to a close, we are getting ready to welcome our new Master of Social Work (MSW) interns for the 2026–2027 school year! 🎒✨

We are so proud to provide a safe, identity-affirming, and supportive learning space where future social workers can grow their skills while modeling real self-care and community care. 🤍

Join us in sending a warm welcome to our incoming MSW student team!

According to the CDC, chronic diseases and pain conditions are defined as health issues that last one year or more, requiring ongoing medical attention, limiting activities of daily living, or both. Managing conditions like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, Crohn's disease, or chronic pain is a deeply complex journey that impacts far more than just the physical body.

Living with a persistent health condition can feel incredibly lonely and isolating, especially when it feels like those around you do not fully understand what you are experiencing day in and day out. Adjusting to these changes often mirrors a grieving process, creating added systemic stress and a heavy emotional toll.

While keeping consistent engagement with primary care physicians and medical specialists is foundational, building a comprehensive, holistic wellness team is just as vital. Surrounding yourself with a supportive network that includes mental health therapists, acupuncturists, reiki practitioners, and somatic specialists can provide the integrated care needed to process the emotional weight of your diagnosis, practice radical patience, and improve your overall quality of life.

To support you or a loved one navigating this intersection of physical and mental health, our team at Carve Your Own Path, Inc. has developed a free digital resource guide. It features grounding affirmations, self-care mapping tools, nutritional mindfulness prompts, and coping skills tailored specifically for chronic symptom management. You do not have to carry this isolation alone.

Let’s talk about a common myth: "Non-profits shouldn't charge for services!"
Did you know that across the country, over 70% of non-profit sector revenue comes from earned income like ticketed workshops and service fees? (Shoutout to research authority Candid for the stats!)

At CYOP, charging standard fees for therapy or hosting ticketed community art and wellness workshops is actually what keeps our doors open and our mission moving forward!

Here’s how your participation creates community care:
💚 Subsidizing Therapy: Income from paid services directly fuels our sliding fee scale, allowing us to provide free or low-cost mental health support to neighbors in need.
💚 Long-Term Stability: Combining earned revenue with grant support from amazing partners like the Akron Community Foundation ensures our non-profit stays strong through every season.
💚 Mutual Support: Attending a workshop or session means you’re taking care of yourself and helping someone else access vital care.

Transparency builds trust, and we’re so grateful for a community that values accessible, trauma-responsive care!

"You can never fill from an empty cup."

This quote from a recent participant in our Resilience Workshop Professional Development Session reminds us why intentional spaces for restoration are so deeply necessary. For the working parents, caregivers, and professionals in our community who are constantly pouring into others, it is incredibly easy to let your own needs fall to the very bottom of the list.

At Carve Your Own Path, we believe that true professional development must include real, practical tools for personal wellbeing. Our workshops help participants step away from the cycle of constant burnout and walk away with a concrete, actionable renewal plan for their own recovery and restoration.

Did you know that CYOP offers customized employee wellness and professional development sessions for local businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations? We love creating gentle, affirming spaces where your team can pause, ground their nervous systems, and learn sustainable tools to care for themselves.

Please join us in sending some extra warmth to all the working parents and dedicated professionals navigating full schedules today. You deserve to be on your own priority list.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Marketing & Communications Intern!

Carve Your Own Path, Inc. is seeking a creative communicator to support our marketing efforts this fall, with a special focus on promoting Carving the Future, our annual fundraiser on November 6.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with social media, graphic design, copywriting, event marketing and nonprofit communications while creating real work you can add to your portfolio.

It could also be a good fit for someone already working in the MarComm space who wants to become more involved in the community or give back through their professional skills, but may not have the time to commit to a full board position or another larger volunteer role.

The commitment is approximately 5 to 10 hours per week throughout Fall 2026.

Interested? Send your resume with “MarComm Internship” in the subject line to [email protected].

Please share with anyone who may be a good fit.

Everyone deserves mental health care that treats them like a whole human—not a diagnosis code or a claim number. 🤍
Traditional insurance systems often force clinicians to pathologize clients, limit how many sessions you get, and audit private notes just to approve care. Navigating those obstacles shouldn't be the price of getting support.

That’s why we back our confidential, individualized counseling with a sliding fee scale. We work to break down systemic gatekeeping so our neighbors can receive uncompromised care on their own terms. 🌿
