When the government shuts down, it puts essential programs that help feed millions of kids and families at risk. As the third-longest shutdown in history continues, funding is uncertain for programs like WIC and SNAP. Many USDA staff who process school meal reimbursements and issue new grants are now furloughed, creating additional strain on schools and communities.
