This month CAYAC members gathered and completed a unique service project. They made dog and cat toys for local shelters! Members brought in old T-shirts, cut them into strips, braided the material together creating animal toys. We hope that, when delivered, these toys help both the pets and adopters connect in a playful way!

A great CAYAC meeting this week! Our members discussed volunteer opportunities, proactive and reactive granting, colored lunch bags for kids food basket, discussed opportunities to connect with other YAC’s in West Michigan, reported on the summer leadership conference, our youth leaders were interviewed on camera and part of our meeting was recorded for upcoming videos to be shown at CAPS events! A productive start and a positive tone for the year ahead! Good things are happing with the Coopersville Area Youth Advisory Council of 2025-2026!

A huge thank you to our CAYAC members who volunteered at the Coopersville Area District Library this morning for the Friends of the Library Book Sale! Thousands of books were unboxed and organized for their yearly sale. 📚

This weekend, youth from the Coopersville Area Community Foundation and Grand Haven Area Community Foundation came together for the 2025 Youth Grantmakers Conference at Saginaw Valley State University. It was a phenomenal conference with a focus on writing our own scripts. These youth leaders will be bringing back a wealth of knowledge, ideas, and philanthropic focuses to their local YACs. We’re excited to see what they do today, tomorrow, and beyond!

Our final event of the year was helping out with the Santa visit. Although it was a wet and rainy/snowy night, many came out to see the jolly man himself! We even got a picture with him! 🎅🏼

This afternoon CAYAC helped decorate the Community Services Building in preparation for the Coopersville Christmas Parade and Santa visit! We’re looking forward to all of the decorated parade entries Friday night and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus! 🎅🏼🤶🏼

Don’t forget to stop into the Community Services Building afterwards for cookies and hot chocolate, music from our community band, coloring pages for Santa letters, and to meet Santa himself! 🎄

Attention Students Entering High School in Fall of 2023 Living In the Coopersville Area or Attending Coopersville Area Schools!

The Coopersville Area Youth Advisory Council (CAYAC) is the youth version of the Coopersville Area Community Foundation whose mission is to make our community a better place to live and work. CAYAC functions as a philanthropically driven grant review committee and volunteer organization. Members meet monthly at required meetings to study youth needs in the community and review grant applications from various non-profit and/or community organizations and also volunteer their time at various events in the community. Through CAYAC experiences, students learn they can make a difference in their community. They also receive valuable leadership training and a working knowledge of philanthropy and volunteerism. Students who will be in 9th - 12th grade in the fall are welcome to apply! If you are interested in applying for a position, please fill out the CAYAC Application Form on our website! Applications are due by May 31, 2023.

The Coopersville Area Youth Advisory Council is made up of high school students from the Coopersville area. CAYAC members meet during the school year to discuss and assess youth issues prevalent in the community, as well as to review grant proposals made to benefit youth in the community.
