Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department Station 5

09/29/2026

We want to say a Big Thank You to the Rouseville Volunteer Fire Dept, Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Dept, and Reno Volunteer Fire Dept for all their help in making the Benefit for Ryan Firster and family a major success. It was a pleasure working with all of you!! Thanks to all that donated prizes, pies, desserts, food, money, time, prayers, etc. and to all of those who came to support the benefit. At the end of the evening, we were able to hand over an amazing amount of money to Ryan and his family to help ease their concerns with financial needs for a while. Please continue sending positive thoughts and prayers to them through their journey that really has just begun.

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our long time member, and current President, Steve McElhaney. He was a past member here, and then went on to become Fire Chief at Rocky Grove VFD for a number of years. He then returned to his roots here at Cooperstown VFD where he served our community as a driver and Firefighter and then as President. Steve will be missed by all here at Station 5.
