In Loving Memory of Our Little Angel, Cookie
It is with deep heartbreak and overflowing love that we share the passing of our beloved Cookie, who left us peacefully early on the morning of June 19th.
For the past 14 years, Cookie was more than a dog—she was a cherished member of our school and camp family and a certified therapy dog. She worked alongside Miss Sylvia every day, bringing joy, comfort, and unconditional love to hundreds of children and staff members. From our tiniest toddlers to our oldest students, Cookie touched every heart.
She wasn’t just part of the classroom—she WAS the classroom. Children made her food, wrapped her in blankets when she was cold, bathed her during water play days, and pushed her in her stroller on walks. She gave them the gifts of nurturing, responsibility, and deep connection. Cookie never barked unless Miss Shari showed up dressed as a dinosaur. She never fussed. She simply was there—calm, gentle, and filled with grace.
Cookie traveled by boat, plane, train, and car—always patient, always steady. And anyone who walked into Ms. Sylvia’s classroom, no matter their age, always asked the same question first:
“Where’s Cookie?” If she wasn’t there, they were disappointed, because Cookie’s presence meant comfort, peace, and love.
She had countless sleepovers with children, co-workers, and friends who wanted to bring her home. She attended Shabbat services and simchas, always welcomed by Rabbi Greenspon. She was even part of our Pre-K graduation ceremonies, standing as a living piece of our school’s history.
Cookie was a healer, a quiet guide, and a living lesson in kindness. As a therapy dog, she gave everything without asking and was loved deeply by every child, every teacher, and every parent who met her.
Last week, she was reunited with her brother, Oreo. Though her absence leaves a tremendous emptiness, we take comfort in knowing she left this world peacefully, surrounded by the love she gave so freely throughout her life.
Thank you, Cookie, for your loyal service, your gentle spirit, and your endless love. You will be truly, deeply missed.
Rest peacefully, sweet girl. You always will be, our little angel.
