Canada Geese may seem like they are everywhere now, but in the early 1900s, their numbers were decimated due to habitat loss and hunting. Today, there are more than 5 million Canada Geese across North America thanks to conservation efforts and regulations.

A common site at Whiterock, Canada Geese and their goslings can be sited and enjoyed from a distance! Give them space as they are notoriously aggressive!

For the 2nd year, Whiterock Conservancy is proud to partner with the University of Iowa to bring School of the Wild to our very own C**n Rapids-Bayard 5th Graders!

School of the Wild is a statewide initiative to increase outdoor learning experiences for elementary and middle school students across Iowa.

School of the Wild strives to provide all students with a meaningful, outdoor learning experience that develops a sense of awareness and appreciation for the natural world, and in turn, leads them to act with positive stewardship for all things wild.

Thank you to the C**n Rapids-Bayard 5th Grade teachers, Carroll County Conservation, Iowa DNR, School of the Wild and Whiterock staff for leading sessions for this amazing opportunity!
