Last week, Advocates and volunteers representing 15 of our network congregations met to discuss what we've learned about the first two and a half months of volunteering at the Family Promise in Anoka County Guest House. As always, we are blown away by the community involvement and support as we serve families in Anoka County. We truly couldn't do it without you!

Last week at Hotdish with Heart, 251 members of our community gathered at the Bunker Hills Event Center to eat a delicious dinner, play trivia, and hear empowering stories of families who have experienced housing insecurity. Through the support of our generous community members, partners, and friends, so far we have raised over $59,000 of our $62,000 goal! We are incredibly grateful for this support, which helps Family Promise cover the gap created by the expansion of our programs this year in response to rising need of housing and homelessness prevention assistance.

Are you interested in being more involved with Family Promise in Anoka County? We have several new, ongoing volunteer opportunities that are open to anyone – whether you're part of a group or volunteering alone. Interested prospective volunteers are invited to attend an in-person training session to learn more and complete the required training. The next training session is Monday, October 5 from 4 – 5:30 pm at the Family Promise in Anoka County Guest House. RSVP on our website or at the link in the comments.

Kathy's Closet at Family Promise in Anoka County is in need of the following items: toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, multi-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent, and women's body wash. Families across all programs at FPAC gather items from Kathy's Closet as needed. Since the number of families we serve is increasing, visits to the closet are also increasing.

We've extended the early bird registration deadline for Hotdish with Heart! While we have over 200 seats already reserved, we wanted to give everyone a chance to get their tickets before prices increase.

Your ticket doesn't just buy a dinner and a seat at the table - it enables Family Promise in Anoka County to meet the growing need in our community. Family Promise in Anoka County has already served more families in 2026 than in any other year, and we are expanding our services to meet this need - but we can't do it without your support. We hope to raise $62,000 through Hotdish with Heart to cover this gap.

Before arriving at Family Promise in Anoka County, a parent shared that they weren't able to focus on anything else other than survival and getting through the night. Then the next day, and the next night. It was all-consuming. Now that their basic needs taken care through the Family Promise shelter program, they are able to spend the time and energy needed to look for employment so they can reach their goal of permanent housing!
