Before arriving at Family Promise in Anoka County, a parent shared that they weren't able to focus on anything else other than survival and getting through the night. Then the next day, and the next night. It was all-consuming. Now that their basic needs taken care through the Family Promise shelter program, they are able to spend the time and energy needed to look for employment so they can reach their goal of permanent housing!

As of last week, Family Promise in Anoka County has served 100 families experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity - and it's only August! 🥳

As the need for affordable housing continues to grow, so does the reach of our programs. During all of 2025, we served a total of 85 families - in the first eight months of 2026, we surpassed that number. But it doesn’t stop there. We continue to work toward the vision of a united community where every family in Anoka County has the support, resources, and connections to secure and sustain a place to call home.

Last Thursday, August 13, Family Promise partnered with United Methodist Church of Anoka's (UMCA) Annual United for Community Back to School Night. During this event, children in our community received school supplies from UMCA and then made a stop at Family Promise’s table to learn more about our programs and pick up Bombas socks. This year we gave away over 500 pairs of Bombas socks!

Huge thank you to Bombas and our community partners for helping the children in our community start the school year off with comfort and care! 💙💛💜

Did you know that Family Promise in Anoka County is more than a shelter? Shelter is 1 of 3 programs offered to families experiencing housing insecurity. Prevention, the largest program, assists families to prevent homelessness. Stabilization walks alongside families who have completed Shelter.

While Shelter is the most visible aspect of Family Promise, it’s just one piece of empowering families experiencing housing insecurity.

We asked for toiletry and paper products for Kathy’s Closet to serve families in our programs, and you delivered! Piles of Amazon packages were waiting at the office last week, and now these items are in the hands of families who need them. We are so grateful for our thoughtful and generous community!
