Officials of International Soap Box Derby, Inc., announced on Monday, March 16th, that certain racing activities will be suspended or canceled in line with the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to limit gatherings of 50 or more people until May. Furthermore, all Soap Box Derby races, rallies, and related activities in communities around the United States are suspended through May 1. Additionally, on Monday, March 30, Governor Bill Lee issued an Executive Order directing Tennesseans to stay home unless engaging in essential activities to limit their exposure to and spread of COVID-19.

The Cookeville Police Athletic League’s highest priority is the health and safety of its racers, volunteers, donors, and community partners. Based on the directives given by International Soap Box Derby, Inc., and the order issued by Governor Bill Lee, the Cookeville Police Athletic League has decided to cancel the 2020 Cookeville Soap Box Derby Local Race originally scheduled for June 13, 2020.
