Safe & Sound

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides bags filled with comfort & necessity items to children (ages 0-18) headed into foster care or kinship placement.

On any given day, there are approximately 437,500 children in foster care in the United States. Most of them are removed from their homes with very little, sometimes, just the clothes on their backs. If they do have any personal belongings, they could be given a trash bag in which to carry them. At Safe & Sound, we believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of dignity. Every child deserves

to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their very own. It is our hope and dream that every child who enters into a new foster/kinship placement would receive a bag filled with all the things they would want and need to get them through the transition into foster care.

We were having so much fun, we forgot to take a picture! We were able to help 7 families this year with Christmas!! ❤️🥰 From baby walkers, to big tonka trucks, and warm coats- we were able to make all their wishlist dreams come true! Thank you to all that donated monetarily or donated items to make this possible! Merry Christmas from us to you!! ❤️🎄

We haven’t posted about Christmas because we’ve been SO busy buying and wrapping. 🥳 We got a call yesterday to see if we could add four more kiddos to our list and we said YES. 🎄❤️

We finally had a chance to update our website!🤪 As a foster parent/kinship guardian you can now go to our website (click on the page titled "Birthday Support") and request a birthday box (filled with a variation of the items listed below) AND A GIFT! This is just another way to make each foster child feel seen and special, all while standing in the gap for those families doing the work.

Update: Need fulfilled! You guys are the BEST!

‼A Need‼ Hi friends! DCS reached out to us today for a student in need. Before we purchase, does anyone have a TI-84 Plus in working order that they would consider donating? The link shows the calculator that is needed. Please reach out ASAP if you are have one that you are willing to donate. 💓

30 backpacks filled with necessary supplies headed to foster kids going back to school!! We received several donations from people (you know who you are ❤️) that allowed us to focus on using our monetary donations on buying nice backpacks that a foster child would be proud to carry to school! 💙💛

Hi friends! It's that time of year again- we are gearing up to pack backpacks for foster children that are headed back to school! The photo below shows examples of the bags that we have purchased this year! Our goal is to make sure each child is proud to carry their backpacks to school and that they have a bag that will last them throughout the whole year!

Today we dropped off 16 bags, lots and lots of extra pull ups, and 25 packs of extra wipes. ❤️💙

Poplar Grove Youth came to help us today! They packed 32 bags, 10 birthday boxes, tons of diaper baggies, and wrote cards of encouragement! What a blessing! We are so thankful! ❤️💙

Keep your eyes peeled! 👀 Along with being able to request a bag through our website, you’ll soon be able to request a birthday box for your foster kiddo! Along with the birthday box we will have the option for a gift to be purchased, wrapped, and delivered for the child’s birthday as well! ❤️💙

We will do a video soon on the box contents and give more information on how to request one for your foster child’s special day!!

This little guy is a night light. Most foster kiddos leave their home and go to a home they’ve never been to, with people they don’t know. We wanted to pack items to help make that transition a little less scary- a night light, a new cozy blanket, and a new stuffed animal to cuddle. ❤️

You guys, how cool is this?? We made it into the top 8 for Cookeville Lifestyle's Reader's Choice. We have said it 1,000 times, but I feel like this warrants us to say it again we would not be here without YOU. We wouldn't be able to give to those who need it most, without your help and support. We are forever grateful for the opportunity to stand in the gap in our community!
