Earlier today, the Alpha Esquires turned service into action at the Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter.

Our young men didn’t just show up—they stepped up. They cooked, prepared, and served meals for 50 men, women, and children in our community.

Moments like this remind us that leadership is not just taught—it’s lived. Proud of these young kings for embodying service, compassion, and responsibility. Young men being developed the right way. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

This is more than a program… it’s purpose in motion.

A quick recap from this past week 💛

We had the privilege of serving children and families in our community—making sure they had meals to enjoy over the weekend. Many of these students are currently living in hotels and their normal SNAP benefits are being withheld.

Huge thanks to the teachers and administrators who sounded the alarm and allowed us to jump into action. 💪🏾

We recently learned that 48 children from a local elementary school were currently living in hotels. With SNAP benefits temporarily suspended, we wanted to make sure they had food for the weekend. Our team provided care bags filled with microwavable meals, ramen, pasta, cereal, fruit, snacks, juice, and water. Thank you to everyone who continues to help us make a difference! 🤙🏾

The Sigma Eta Lambda Foundation donated school supplies, tables, and books authored by Michael Mike Wood, Jr. To the students at C.J. Hicks Elementary School in Conyers! Thank you to my brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Sigma Eta Lambda Chapter and all of our other donors whose giving made this possible!

On Saturday, November 13th the SEL Foundation hosted a college workshop for students at Alcovy High School in Covington, GA. Over 30 students attended this workshop and explored the college admissions process. Students created FSA ID’s, completed Match&Fit tools, started Commom Applications and began the scholarship search. In addition, special guest Christina Lopez, admissions rep for University of Kentucky met with students about applying to college.
