The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) and Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) are hosting joint regional virtual community listening sessions continuing with HHS Region 4 on Tuesday, August 15, from 2-3:30 PM ET. The community listening sessions will provide a venue for discussion and collaboration focused on barriers to and opportunities for improving HIV diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and outbreak response.

CDC and HRSA want to partner with community leaders and members to understand and plan for addressing the longstanding inequities that continue to contribute to severe HIV-related disparities and to work together to achieve the goals of the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. (EHE) initiative.

We invite you to attend and participate in these very important engagement sessions. This session will focus on activities within HHS Region 4 but is open to all to attend. There will be subsequent sessions to cover the other regions of the country. Please register for the event, and we will see you there.

Recruiting for PrEP Awareness campaign for women
The first wave of the campaign will be focused on cisgender women who are of childbearing potential to address PrEP and pregnancy. Medscape is looking for a cisgender woman who is taking PrEP or is thinking about going on PrEP who can talk about her experiences and thoughts about PrEP and pregnancy in a two- to three-minute video.

Participation in the campaign will entail a one-hour "get acquainted" session over Zoom in January. Another one-hour Zoom session in early February will provide the content which will be edited down to the video. Compensation will be $250.

If you're agreeable to it, please share this information with anyone you might know who might be interested in taking part in the campaign. Medscape is ideally looking for a woman of color to participate.

Open enrollment for the ACA is happening now!

Between November 1 through January 15, individuals can buy or change health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace.

The ACA provides expanded and improved access to health coverage for people with or at risk for HIV.

People living with HIV – or other pre-existing conditions – cannot be denied or charged more for coverage through the ACA. Additionally, plans sold through the ACA marketplace are required to provide a minimum set of “Essential Health Benefits” that includes both HIV testing and PrEP.
