Where do I start…this weekend at the Georgia Chapters 13th Annual Family Reunion hosted by the Georgia Parent Support Network was ah-mazing!!! Attending this event is not work it’s Self-Care.❤️ I enjoyed learning, laughing, crying, and having fun with all of my peers. My chapter My Girls, Inc. won the Community Impact Award, and we also got an Outstanding Chapter Award. The awards are so beautiful and unique, it feels so good to be recognized and appreciated. We were blessed with shirts for our chapters with our logos on them.🥰 We were also blessed with a wealth of knowledge from all of the guest speakers. My cousin Trellis was one of them, and she did a phenomenal job!!! We had a 70’s party and it was so fun seeing everyone dress up in their 70’s looks. We were blessed with massages, books, prizes, and so many goodies. Thanks to GPSN for all that you did to make this such a beautiful event and thanks for all the beautiful gifts!!!

Last Friday with my mini me Shamira at Lee's Bakery! This is one of her favorite restaurants, and she wanted me to taste the food and coffee. It was so good, I’m in love with the Vietnamese Coffee. Anyone who really knows me will tell you I put a lot of sugar in my coffee. However, this coffee was perfect and I didn’t add any sugar or anything else. We also went to Lee’s because I wanted to meet the owner and staff to thank them in advance for the food they were donating to My Girls, Inc. Bigger Picture Youth MOVE Chapter Food for Thought event. When I tell you we were in for a treat. On top of the delicious food & coffee, and the friendly staff, the owner Mr. Lee came out to our table and sat with us. He is so sweet and wise, and he has such a great sense of humor. Mr. Lee we can’t say thank you enough for your generous donation and for giving to this important event. Support local businesses because they are the ones who really support community. Mr. Lee I’ll be back soon for some Egg Bánh Mì, Pork Bánh Mì, and some Vietnamese Coffee. May God bless you and your staff abundantly!!!

I was too tired to post something on World Sjögren’s Day. However, I would be remiss not to post anything as someone living with this chronic auto immune disease. I was looking for a picture of myself to post, and I struggled because there’s not a single picture that can capture what a person with Sjögren’s looks like. There is no particular look because it looks different every day. Sometimes it’s laying in the bed for days and not being able to do anything. Sometimes it’s having to say no to invites and things you enjoy because you lack the energy and your pain level is a 10. Sometimes it’s smiling and looking like all is well yet you’re hurting and tired as hell. Sometimes it’s forgetting what you need to do, what you were going to say, what someone’s name is or putting something in the wrong place. Sometimes it’s severe insomnia and you don’t get to sleep until the sun is coming up and sometimes you’re up for a whole day. Sometimes it’s pain, tingling, and numbness that wakes you up out of your sleep. Sometimes it’s pain that just doesn’t seem to ever leave. Sometimes it’s not being able to go places you need to or do things you need to. Sometimes it’s not feeling confident and sure. Sometimes it’s not feeling like yourself anymore. Sometimes it’s feeling depressed and anxious. Sometimes it’s not being able to enjoy the things you use to. Sometimes it’s feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes it feels like you are letting everyone down. Sometimes it’s not even being able to cry because this disease impacts your ability to produce tears. Sometimes it’s choking on the smallest pill because this disease impacts your ability to produce saliva. Lately, it feels debilitating the joint pain, fatigue, and brain fog has been severe. To my fellow Sjögren’s warriors hang in there.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 To all black women hang in there, studies are showing we are getting auto immune diseases at a higher rate due to living with higher levels of stress. As for me I don’t want a pity party, I want understanding, grace, love, prayers, and help. I want more research and awareness on Sjögren’s. I want black women to not have this disease and other auto immune diseases disproportionately.

Happy Self-Care Sunday!!! Self-Care was definitely needed today after our My Girls, Inc. event on yesterday and a very full week. Self-Care is something I’m very passionate about especially working in the helping field. As helpers we often neglect our own Self-Care to care for others and we are constantly exposed to Secondary Trauma. Last Saturday I had the pleasure of presenting on Self-Care in my presentation “Restoring The Helper” at the 2026 Georgia Parent and Youth CPS Continuing Education Conference. My peers were so engaged during my presentation and they gave me so many great compliments.🥰 All glory to God!!! Thank you Georgia Parent Support Network, Inc for giving me this amazing opportunity!!! I’m always grateful for the opportunity to speak and to pour into my peers. I had such an amazing time learning and having fun with my peers throughout the conference. It’s always like a big family reunion with delicious food, scrumptious desserts, good music, and good times. Kisha Whitfield you did an outstanding job planning our conference!!! Thanks to you, Anna Bourque, Sue Smith and all of the GPSN staff for all your hard-work in making our conference experience great!!! Thanks to my sister-friend Deidre C Roberson for taking the best pictures and for your support during the conference!!! Congratulations to my sister-friend Onnie Poe for winning the CPS-P of the year!!!🎉🎉🎉

My Girls, Inc. Bigger Picture Youth MOVE Food For Thought was amazing!!! We traveled to Nigeria 🇳🇬, Vietnam🇻🇳, Taiwan🇹🇼, Guyana🇬🇾, Trinidad🇹🇹, Venezuela🇻🇪, and Cuba🇨🇺 through stories, food, and conversations. Thank you to my daughter, our Youth MOVE leader Shamira Dawson for all your hard-work with planning this event and for the phenomenal job you did as a panelist. Thank you to our co-leader Briinna Lėvels for all of your assistance with this event and for the great job you did moderating the panel discussion. Thank you to all the youth members, families, and community members that attended. Thank you to all the panelists and community partners for making this event a success, we couldn’t have done this without y’all. Olinda Ricard-Hodge Joannie Broxton Lee's Bakery Samantha Samuels Rockdale County Parks & Recreation, Mary, Rebeca, and Deann. It felt great pouring into, feeding, and loving on the community!!!
