Highlighting Our Current Programs:
Juvenile Diversion
is an alternative to the formal court process for non-violent offenders between the ages of 11 and 18. It works within the understanding that the needs of victims, offenders, and communities cannot be effectively addressed in isolation from one another. Youths in our program meet with a panel of community members to develop
an individually ba
sed accountability plan. He/She checks in weekly with the program staff to monitor and support their success. Upon completion the youth meet again with their volunteer panel to assure that the contract conditions have been met. The court is then petitioned to drop the pending charges and seal the file with no further judicial action. Mediation
is a form of (ADR), alternative dispute resolution. It is a way of resolving disputes between two or more parties with concrete effects. The process is private and confidential, with participation being typically voluntary. In this process, a neutral third party, the mediator, assists the parties to negotiate an agreement or settlement. The mediator’s role is to act as a facilitator rather than directs the process. Disputants may mediate disputes in a variety of domains, such as commercial, legal, workplace, community and family matters. Adult Alternative Sentencing is an alternative to traditional sentencing focused on individuals age 18-25. Participants meet with the staff for an intake and development of an individualized Accountability Plan. These plans, like our juvenile program, are designed to be completed within a 90 day time frame. The program includes weekly supervision, community service, and programs that address the offense. Victim Offender Mediation
is a victim driven process where a trained neutral third party (mediator) facilitates a dialog between parties addressing the impact of the offence committed inclusive of reason, physical , emotional and financial impact. The intent is to develop a plan of restitution (accountability). The program is open to referrals from victims, law enforcement, the courts or other stakeholders involved in the incident, but will only move foreword with the victims consent.
