Last week our Bass drummer and two snare drummers attended the 10th annual Keeping Tradition Alive Honor Guard/Pipes & Drums Symposium in Lewisville, Texas.

The guys learned new techniques, advanced tuning, and maintenance on their drums from local instructors along with Jim Kilpatrick (from Scotland and holds 19 world records in snare drumming) and Tyler Fry also holds world records and is "the name in Tenor Drumming!

It was an honor and privilege to meet Keynote Speaker, Jeff Cool, FDNY Rescue 3 in the Bronx who interviewed to move to R3 after 9/11 to replace one of the fallen. On January 23, 2005, Jeff and 5 other firefighters were forced to jump out of a fourth floor window of a building fire falling 50 feet to the ground below. Two died from impact, Jeff and 3 others barely survived, sustaining massive injuries that ended their careers. Another firefighter died in an unrelated fire that afternoon in Brooklyn. This day became known as Black Sunday!
