Faulkner County Emergency Squad Faulkner County Emergency Squad is a nonprofit organization of local volunteers who help Faulkner County residents during emergencies. We save lives.

INVEST IN YOUR COMMUNITY: Please pay the voluntary tax on your personal property taxes every October and support your Faulkner County Emergency Squad. The Faulkner County Emergency Squad is a nonprofit organization made of local volunteers who help Faulkner County residents during emergencies. We are rescue divers, swift water rescue experts, first responders, nurses, emergency medical technicians and law enforcement officers. Many in our squad are local volunteer firefighters. The rescue squad has been called upon by local law enforcement for assistance during natural disasters including floods, tornadoes, recovery, and transport during icy conditions, as well as mutual aid for neighboring counties. We were founded in 1978 to assist with countywide emergency needs. We are the people who come to the rescue, but we need the community’s support. Your voluntary taxes and donations are what makes our squad possible. All money is used for purchasing, upgrading or maintaining equipment, and for training purposes. Needed equipment includes wetsuits for individual divers, automated external defibrillators for response vehicles, upgraded radios for better communication, and emergency-stocked backpacks for field recoveries. We make it our goal to participate in specialized training to help where and when we can. The Faulkner County Emergency Squad is a licensed Basic Ambulance Service through the state health department. We have three fully stocked ambulances in Conway, Greenbrier and Mount Vernon. The squad also provides standby at community and sporting events. Faulkner County Emergency Squad provides multiple services to the Faulkner County area:
• Standby support at athletic events, Toad Suck Daze, community events and other activities
• Swift Water Rescue
• Dive Rescue and Recovery
• Mutual aid to law enforcement and surrounding counties during extreme weather events, and other emergencies or disasters
• Free child identification cards at health or safety fairs or other community events
• Rescue Dog Teams
• Search and Rescue Teams

The Faulkner County Emergency Squad needs the financial support of the community to purchase and maintain equipment, and to train with that equipment so we are ready for the next emergency. Please pay the voluntary tax for the Faulkner County Emergency Squad when you pay your personal property taxes. Consider it an investment in your community. 🌊🚤 Successful River Rescue 🚤🌊

On Saturday night, our team answered the call for help from a couple of fishermen stranded on the Arkansas River after their boat motor was knocked off by an unknown obstacle in the water. We launched our River Boat from the Palarm Creek boat launch and worked our way to their reported location. We met up with a Pulaski County deputy boat and located their vessel.

We secured their boat and brought them on board, then towed their boat back to the Little Maumel River boat launch near the I-430 bridge.

Once we got everyone safely ashore, our mission didn’t end there! We took the opportunity to conduct a valuable training session on night boat operations with some of our newer members who responded to the call. Ensuring everyone is equipped with the knowledge and skills to operate safely on the river is a top priority for us.

Thank you to the Mayflower Fire Department, Faulkner County Sheriff's Office and the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department for their cooperation and support with this rescue.

Stay safe on the water, and remember, we’re always here to help!

🌕🏃‍♂️ What a fantastic weekend! Our Faulkner County Emergency Squad had the incredible opportunity to partner with the Faulkner County Amateur Radio Club at the Full Moon 25k and 50k race at Lake Sylvia! 🚨📡

We deployed our Mobile Communications unit, which is equipped with VHF, UHF, AWIN, and Amateur Radio capabilities — all powered by our onboard generator and backup batteries. With a pneumatic tower, we ensured our antennas were high enough to keep the channels clear and strong!

This year, we had over 400 enthusiastic runners hit the trails, and our team was on the ground, providing crucial communications throughout the event. We set up in the afternoon and stayed until the last runner crossed the finish line, which is usually around 4 AM the next morning! 🌌

This event wasn't just about the race; it was an invaluable opportunity for us to practice controlling communications and passing critical information between checkpoints. These skills are essential, especially during large-scale emergencies when traditional communication infrastructure may be compromised.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and to our amazing volunteers who made it all happen! 💪🚒

Update on Search Efforts

Today, our boat crews were deployed to assist with the search for 20-year-old Ashlynn Bocksnick and her six-week-old daughter, Lalynn Dream Williams, on the Arkansas River. Our crews covered several miles of the river alongside local and state agencies, using our specialized equipment and training to aid in the search.

We were joined by several teams from the American Scent Dog Association, a local K-9 Search and Rescue team with which we work and train regularly to prepare for searches like this one. We were able to help deploy six search dogs for both land and water efforts.

This operation requires careful coordination and determination, especially in the challenging heat.

Please keep Ashlynn, Lalynn, their loved ones, and all responders in your thoughts. We remain committed to supporting our partner agencies in this vital search until our mission is complete. Thank you for your support.

Public Safety Reminder: from Yell County Officials
Please do not self-deploy to the Arkansas River search operation.
While we appreciate the community’s willingness to help, all personnel and resources must check in with Incident Command before entering the operational area. This ensures accountability, responder safety, and coordinated search efforts.
Uncoordinated self-deployment can create safety hazards, duplicate search efforts, and divert valuable resources away from the mission.
If you would like to assist, please check in with Incident Command at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Dardanelle.
Thank you for your understanding and support as our responders continue this challenging operation.

🚤 **Rescue Update** 🚤

Last night, our dedicated boat crew sprang into action on the Arkansas River, south of Toad Suck, to assist a stranded boater whose motor had unexpectedly stopped working. We quickly launched our riverboat and successfully located the individuals, bringing them and their boat back safely to the ramp.

A crucial reminder for all our fellow boaters: **Always wear your life jacket!** Safety is key, and if you ever find yourself in a situation on the water, don’t hesitate to call for help. Our team is always ready to assist you and ensure you get home safely.

Stay safe out there and enjoy the water! 🌊🚣‍♂️

This weekend, members of the Faulkner County Emergency Squad Riverboat and Rescue 1 small boat crews participated in the 17th Annual Arkansas Fire Boat School. This specialized training brings together fire, rescue, and emergency response agencies from across the state to enhance their capabilities for water-based emergencies and large-scale incidents.

Training opportunities like this allow our personnel to sharpen critical skills including boat operations, water rescue techniques, search and recovery operations, emergency scene management, interagency communications, and coordinated responses involving multiple agencies. Just as important, these events help build relationships with fellow responders from across Arkansas—connections that become invaluable when agencies must work together during major incidents.

As a volunteer organization, we are committed to providing our members with high-quality training that prepares them to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us. The knowledge and experience gained at Arkansas Fire Boat School directly improves our ability to serve the citizens of Faulkner County and assist neighboring jurisdictions when called upon.

A big thank you to Arkansas Fire Boats, the instructors, organizers, and participating agencies for another outstanding training event. We appreciate the opportunity to learn from some of the best marine and rescue professionals in the region and look forward to putting these skills to work in service of our community.

Check out Channel 7's coverage of this year's training below!
