It is no secret that food systems of the modern Western world are not built for health. Highly processed foods, high sugar content, the use of additives - all this is designed to keep us addicted instead of nourished. Chasing food as entertainment instead of replenishing our elements. That is why internal diseases related to indigestion, like diabetes, are more and more prevalent today.

Yet, it doesn't mean that we should panic or despair. Thanks to traditional healers and wisdom keepers, we can learn what is good for our bodies. We can honor the nurturing simplicity of the methods applied for thousands of years and bring them into our daily lives.

Tibetan Medicine, with its focus on digestion as the root of long and healthy life, can bring invaluable insight to those who struggle with diabetes or their loved ones.

Join our new workshop, “Diabetes According to Tibetan Medicine” with Dr. Phuntsog Wangmo, to explore a unique perspective on diabetes and how to manage it.

09/09/2026

Diabetes in Tibetan Medicine is connected not just with high blood sugar, but with the imbalance of three humors: rlung (wind element), mkhris pa (fire element), and bad kan (earth and water elements).

Specifically, diabetes is associated with the excess of bad kan, which is cold and heavy in nature, so diabetes itself is considered a cold-nature disease.

That is why the treatment usually aims to bring warmth, which aids digestion and helps manage unpleasant symptoms.

While treating diabetes, Tibetan Medicine doctors assess the individual condition of a patient, such as constitution, diet, lifestyle, digestion, specific symptoms, climate, and season.

Join our new workshop, “Diabetes According to Tibetan Medicine” with Dr. Phuntsog Wangmo, where we will explore and offer a unique perspective on diabetes and how to manage it.

Diabetes has become a prevalent condition in the modern world, with 1 in 9 adults having to suffer from mild to serious complications. This number is predicted to rise even more in the future years.

Some of the complications of prolonged high blood sugar include severe dehydration, confusion, weight gain, cardiovascular issues, nerve damage, kidney failure, hearing loss, depression, and more.

According to Tibetan Medicine, the main cause of all internal diseases, including diabetes, is indigestion. Specifically, diabetes is also related to the excess of the earth and water elements in the body (bad kan - phlegm), which is cold and heavy in nature and causes many symptoms listed above.

In our new workshop, “Diabetes According to Tibetan Medicine” with Dr. Phuntsog Wangmo, we will explore and offer a unique perspective on diabetes and how to manage it.

Tibetan Medicine is a unique holistic system rooted in ancient wisdom and spiritual practice, within which body, energy, and mind are inseparable.

It focuses not only on our physical health, but also on our mental and emotional state, which is connected with the deep knowledge of ourselves and the world around us.

Mental clarity, in this sense, is supported through diet & lifestyle choices, external therapies, and sometimes Tibetan herbal formulas, with all these tools aiming to balance the five elements within ourselves.

When all elements are balanced, we enjoy clarity and joy that arises in our minds spontaneously.

In our new workshop on August 29, Dr. Phuntsog Wangmo will share Tibetan Medicine view and advice on Mental Clarity, with simple applicable practices rooted in an ancient healing tradition.

We will also welcome a special guest, meditation teacher Zoltán Cser who will walk you through six kinds of applications of mindfulness, practicing them one by one in a very simple way. You will learn the ways to develop presence and ways to develop understanding, wisdom.

The workshop will be held in English, with Spanish, Italian, and Russian translations.

Recordings will be available if you can't attend live.
