Madison Pitts

"I want to share my story of growing up, losing a parent, living in poverty and eventually becoming a college graduate." In her talk, Madison Pitts hopes to show that rising above your problems is so much sweeter than giving in.

Raised in Mayflower, AR. Madison is a senior Environmental Studies major with a minor in Politics. A first generation college graduate, she is applying to the Bowen School of Law in Little Rock to (hopefully) attend in the fall.

These seven Hendrix students will be competing in our 2nd annual Student Speaker Competition at 7:30pm, Tuesday, January 27th in Mills A. The student speakers have worked hard and they deserve to be celebrated. By introducing their talks online, they can also get support and encouragement from friends and family who can’t be at the competition in person.

There will be two winners of the contest. The panel of judges will choose one, and the audience will choose the other. The panel will consist of three Hendrix faculty and staff members who range in expertise. At the end of the contest the judges will choose a winner. They will be judging based on content, presentation, and impact. The panel-chosen winner will be awarded the Grand Prize.The audience members will also vote on their favorite talk with the winner receiving the Audience Favorite Award. If there is a tie from the audience, the panel will choose a winner. One speaker cannot win both prizes. We encourage you to like and share your favorite student speaker's picture to show your support!
