Temporary location change, same mission!

The Conway Noon Lions Club made a temporary change of scenery for our meeting this week, but that didn’t stop us from getting together, serving, and planning some BIG things for the Conway community.

A huge THANK YOU to Conway Corporation for generously allowing us to use their boardroom for our meeting. We appreciate our community partners who help make it possible for us to keep doing what Lions do best — WE SERVE!

MORE THAN 1,000 SERVED!

Our Conway Noon Lions were back at it Friday, providing vision screenings for a local Homeschool Co-Op!

Two volunteers spent three hours screening 36 children—28 passed, and eight were referred for additional vision care.

With those screenings, we officially crossed a BIG milestone: more than 1,000 people served through our vision-screening efforts in September and October! 🎉

That’s a lot of screenings, volunteer hours, and service in just a few short weeks.

Huge thanks to Lion Kim KT Tyler, and everyone who helped make these screenings possible!

A LITTLE CONWAY HISTORY

This week, we welcomed Bruce Battles to the Conway Noon Lions Club

Bruce, a Conway resident and local artist, shared the history of the Greathouse Home, located on the Faulkner County Courthouse grounds.

Dating back to around 1830, this historic home has quite a story to tell. From serving as a residence and inn along the Butterfield Overland Mail route to being relocated and restored in downtown Conway, it's definitely a piece of Faulkner County history worth learning about.

LIONS IN ACTION: 993 PEOPLE SERVED

September was a busy month for the Conway Noon Lions Club vision screening team.

Throughout the month, our Lions and volunteers provided vision screenings to **993 people** and gave a combined **68 volunteer hours** helping identify individuals who may need additional vision care.

Leadership in Lions is about more than holding a title—it’s about showing up, serving others, and helping move our community forward. Laura leads with that spirit of service and a genuine commitment to making a difference right here in Conway.

Our club is stronger because of members willing to give their time, talents, and heart to serving others, and we’re grateful for Laura’s leadership as we continue another year of service together.

Leading Through Service: Laura Frizzell Named Conway Noon Lions President 🦁🦁🦁

For Conway Corp Accountant Laura Frizzell, serving the community has always been about more than simply showing up. She wants to find where she can help, roll up her sleeves and get to work.

That desire to make a difference led her to the Conway Noon Lions Club and, most recently, to serve as president of the organization.

With both of her children grown, Laura found herself with more time to give and began looking for a meaningful way to become more involved in the community that had played an important role in her family’s life.

“I decided to join a local civic organization to help make a difference in my community,” Laura said. “I had extra time since both my children were grown and thought that would be a great way to give back to the community that helped to mold them.”

Reaching Out to Communities to Save Sight!

Conway Noon Lions Club members Lion Brandy Hinton Mullins and Lion Phyliss Gilmore Fry recently volunteered at Mount Vernon-Enola, providing vision screenings for 22 preschoolers!

Saving sight is an important part of the Lions Club mission, and we’re proud to reach beyond our community to help make sure children have access to early vision screening.

It’s another great example of what Lions do best — We Serve! 💙💛

A big thank you to our very own Lion Jason Hansen, Chief Information Officer at Conway Corp, for joining us today as our guest speaker!

Jason shared his knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), how it’s being used today, and what businesses and individuals should know as technology continues to evolve.

We appreciate Jason taking the time to share his expertise with our club and helping us better understand the exciting world of AI!

A little Conway Noon Lions Club update!

We recently had a friendly Gold vs. Blue Team Challenge collecting socks, underwear, and other clothing items for preschoolers in need at Sallie Cone Preschool.

Since Lions love a little friendly competition… Team Gold took the win!

But the biggest win was collecting 471 items for Sallie Cone students! After the challenge, Lion Morgan Drayton and Lion Sheree Fitzgerald McMillen had the pleasure of delivering all of the donations to the school.

Thank you to everyone who donated and joined in on the fun! A little friendly competition + serving our community = a win for everyone.

A big thank you to Dan Spatz with Healthy Flavors Arkansas for joining us as our guest speaker! Dan shared his story, his Conway roots, and the work he’s doing to bring locally grown, minimally processed foods into our schools and communities through Healthy Flavors and the C.H.E.F. Challenge.

It’s always great to hear about good work happening right here in our community.
