Today, some of the Caliber LEMC membership arrived and supported the Taylor’s Organization/Taylor’s Patriot’s Annual Chili Cook-Off. For those unaware, Taylor’s Organization has long been a friend and supporter of Law Enforcement and all First Responders here in Montgomery County, Texas, and they’re highly appreciated. As is the Caney Creek Cowboy Church which co-hosted the event beneath their rodeo arena.

While at the event all Caliber members had the opportunity to sample their fill of some fine chili, which was in order as it was colder than a well-digger in the Klondike!

Caliber also had the opportunity to meet with Joanne Linzer, a attorney in Montgomery County and local candidate in the running for judge in the 359th District Court, as well as County Judge Mark Keough, who we found out entered the competition. His chili didn’t place, but it was actually pretty darn good.

Caliber sends a big thank you to ALL Taylor’s Organization/Taylor’s Patriot’s for their work and support of our First Responders, as well as to Ron Brodt who heads it up and puts it together every year.

It is with profound sadness that we confirm the line of duty death of Officer Elijah Garretson, badge number 118.

At our request, the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation into an officer involved shooting that occurred on January 10, 2026, which resulted in the on-duty death of Officer Garretson. The suspect was later located, and following a lengthy negotiation attempt, the suspect took his own life.

As we begin to navigate this incredibly difficult time, we ask for understanding and patience as our department, Officer Garretson’s family, and our law enforcement family grieve this tremendous loss. Out of respect for all those affected and the ongoing investigation, no further information is being released at this time.

We ask the community to keep Officer Garretson’s loved ones and our department in their thoughts and prayers. 🕊️💙🙏🏼

On 12/18/25 Trooper Clinton Ransom responded to a traffic crash on IH45 in Palmer, Texas. When Trooper Ransom arrived he found a 13 year old girl that had her leg amputated in the crash. Trooper Ransom applied two tourniquets and stopped the severe blood loss, saving this young lady’s life. Trooper Ransom’s heroic actions are an amazing example of the work our NTX DPS members do every day.

Yesterday Caliber Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club sponsored and participated in the United States Marine Corp Reserves, Piney Woods Toys for Tots, 16th Annual Toy Run. It was a honor to participate with members of the Los Carnales MC, Huntsville Chapter, who’ve been participating in the event for years.

Funds and toys donated will be a blessing and bring a little joy to some less fortunate.

Caliber LEMC looks forward to the 17th annual run!
