Surprise! It’s time to see another show off the board… Everyone loves a good performance from a wind band. Melodies and harmonies galore, and topped off with some complimentary percussion for some groove and attitude. You could say they bring the Groovitude. Picture this: the Mighty Falcon Marching Mechanical Monsters take over the field. Followed by the overgrowth of the Fields of Clover, overpowering the robots and bringing in a celebration complete with the jazzy beats of Groovitude. Well, the Connellsville High School Bands have closed every concert this year with a piece by Randy Standy, but next year we will not close the field show with Santa the Barbarian… There are still six shows remaining on the board. To learn what next year’s show will be, you just have a little bit longer to wait…

Congratulations to the 2026/2027 Mighty Falcon Marching Band Leadership! Everyone who auditioned did a wonderful job, and we are all so proud of you. Stepping outside your comfort zone and going through the audition process shows that you are a leader and dedicated to the future of this band program! Congratulations!!!

Everyone knows that it’s more about the journey than the destination. One of Mr. Domina’s favorite shows up on the board displays this perfectly. Like he said before: everything has a beginning and an end. This journey begins in an underground mining facility, where the metallic, clanging rhythms of John Mackey’s Foundry set the stage for a quest to reach the stars. On our way from there to the sky, it’s required to pass through the surface world. The peaceful sounds of the Minecraft soundtrack capture the beauty of nature during this visit, before finally ascending to the clouds. The journey nears its end through the angelic chords of Łukasz Michalski’s Dream of Sky, then concludes among the stars with the energetic Good Egg Galaxy theme. As exciting as it would be to portray this journey on the field, today we will be removing From the Ground, Up! from the board. Some of you have been keeping record of this journey we’re taking together. Keep it up, you might be glad you remember…

It’s that time of year again!

Outdoor Colorguard tryouts are May 14 starting at 4:30 pm. The routine will be taught throughout the clinics with a brief REVIEW held the day of tryouts starting at 3:30pm. Optional clinics will be held May 5, 7 and 12 from 2:45-5:00pm.

Additionally, we will be holding an interest meeting on May 5 directly after practice. This meeting will be open to students and parents/guardians. The meeting will review the anticipated schedule for the season, expected costs for the season, necessary items that need purchased by each student, etc. and will be open to questions from you about the upcoming season. This will be a good opportunity for both new and returning members/families to be aware of the expectations for the upcoming outdoor season!

Next, one that might disappoint some… Don’t worry, because even after this, there will still be eight cool shows up on the board. As you all know, not everything always goes Anyway You Want It, even though you may think that that’s the way you need it. It’s time to tell another show to Beat It, as if it’s a Smooth Criminal being taken away to prison. While I am having The Time of My Life thinking about the rocking possibilities of this show, it’s time to remove Back to the 80s from the board. Don’t Stop Me Now, we will remove another one soon enough. Which show will be taken down next?

Could you imagine a world where everything goes your way? Where you’re the main character and the world revolves around you! Maybe you’re a farm boy turned Rebel. Maybe you’re an archaeologist hired by the US Government. Or maybe you’re a young lion prince who flees the kingdom. Or perhaps you’re just a pirate up against the cursed crew of a ghost ship. Everything has a beginning and an end. The order matters, just make sure you’re keeping track. Realistically, as cool as a show including music from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Lion King, and Pirates of the Caribbean would be, we here at Connellsville Area High School have been looking at music from film scores so much these past few weeks, that I think it’s okay for Movie Magic to be the first show removed from the board. That’s only the first, there are still nine left up there. Everyone else has to wait too, you’re not alone!
