Our last Thursday in July had us celebrating Gabe's birthday. (Thank You DQ for the wonderful cake) We started our day off going over a PowerPoint that Scotty sent about the Battle of Fredericksburg, and completing homework assignment he left for us. It was a C*C favorite for lunch, chicken patty sandwhich, tater tots and watermelon. We ended our day with some creative free painting time while enjoying the endless laughs.

Playing catch-up on our busy summer! Tuesday, July 28th, was another fun-filled day at C*C.

We started our day with conversations about the week we had just enjoyed, along with some fun card games. Sandy then led our devotional time. It is always a special time, and we are surprised every time by the wonderful things the kids share.

The kids also painted their own Ball-and-Cup games. We learned that everyone loved this game when Karla, from the Daughters of the American Revolution, first introduced it to them.

For lunch, we enjoyed chicken Alfredo with broccoli, along with watermelon and bananas.

After lunch, Scotty came in to go over our next battle plans as we continued our Civil War history lesson. It was another full day of fun, learning, creativity, and fellowship at C*C!

Our Thursday, July 23 was another indoor type of day with the hot weather. The kids spent time cleaning up around C*C as they came. After their chore for the day was done, the kids continued with painting and playing card games. Sandy spent time with the kids during devotion time, always great to see them all interact during this time together. We welcome our friend Amy from the Conneaut Kiwanis Club, the kids were excited to see her and show her C*C. For Lunch was spaghetti and meatballs, also had makings for meatball subs, awatermelon and grapes on the side. To finish the day off we watched Joseph King of Dream with popcorn.

Tuesday, July 21, was another busy and fun day at C*C!

We started our time off with the kids making their own Game of Graces. They had enjoyed learning about the game when Karla, from the Daughters of the American Revolution, brought it as part of her presentation.

We also had a special visitor stop by, Nancy from the Geneva Food Pantry. Nancy shared why she does what she does at the food pantry and explained how her work impacts so many people in the community.

Nancy taught the kids about the food pyramid and why it is important to include the recommended portions in each of our meals. The kids then played two fun games with her. Everyone especially loved the Nutritional Headband game! They also had a great time racing to spell words associated with food and nutrition.

Scotty was in and presented his current plans for our next reenactment battle.

After Nancy's visit, we enjoyed deli sandwiches and watermelon for lunch. We finished the day with some delicious ice cream for dessert. What a fun and educational day at C*C!

Big Thank-Yous
C*C would like to send two BIG thank-yous to Avery Turnage and John King!

Yesterday evening was our last Civil War reenactment until next year, and Avery and John went out of their way to make sure the kids had a wonderful evening.

Thank you, Avery, for bringing out your cannon! The kids always enjoy it and look forward to seeing it.

And thank you, John, for surprising everyone—including Scotty—with a special visit from President Abraham Lincoln! What a wonderful surprise and a great way to end our reenactment season.

We truly appreciate you both for helping make the evening so memorable for the kids!

July 17th was our last day of camp. The day had us out of the smoke and down in the creek to enjoy some kayaking time. It was an enjoyable day and we are all looking forward to another trip as the leaves start to change.

Our Wednesday, July 15th kept us indoors and out of the hot weather. We started our day off with some cleaning and tidying up. All our windows and the floor were cleaned as each kid came in and started a chore. It was wonderful to see them all help keep their area clean (hopefully they take these skills home to help mom). Everyone enjoyed pizza, watermelon and grapes during lunch. WIth it being hot out, we spent our second half of the afternoon watching "The Sandlot" and enjoyed pop corn. Another wonderful C*C day was had by all.
